Today (April 24) in Ho Chi Minh City, the standard chess content of the 2025 National Chinese Chess Championship ended with the championship title belonging to players Lai Ly Huynh (male) and Dam Thi Thuy Dung (female).
In the men's tournament, Lai Ly Huynh was chosen as the second seed while Nguyen Thanh Bao ( Binh Phuoc ) was the first seed. After 7 matches, Lai Ly Huynh scored 6 points (5 wins, 2 draws), ranked first and entered the quarter-finals (knockout). With high performance, Lai Ly Huynh overcame Nguyen Khanh Ngoc (Da Nang) in the quarter-finals then defeated teammate Phan Thanh Gian in the semi-finals.
Lai Ly Huynh defeated his senior Nguyen Thanh Bao to become the 2025 National Chess Champion.

In the final match against Nguyen Thanh Bao, Lai Ly Huynh maintained his form. He defeated his senior in the first game (first leg) and then drew in the second game (second leg), thereby winning the championship. This is the 6th national chess championship in Lai Ly Huynh's career. Previously, the Binh Duong player won the championship in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021.
In the women's tournament, player Dam Thi Thuy Dung (HCMC) defeated Ho Thi Thanh Hong (Binh Dinh) with victories in both the first and second legs, thereby winning the championship. Number 1 seed Nguyen Hoang Yen (HCMC). At the 2025 National Chinese Chess Championship, in addition to the standard chess content, athletes also compete in rapid chess and blitz chess.
