Ronaldo will turn 41 by the time the 2026 World Cup kicks off in June next year. The Al Nassr striker has said this will be his "last chance" to win the only title missing from his massive collection.
Despite a possible 1-2 match suspension following his red card in last weekend's 2-0 defeat to Ireland, Ronaldo is expected to remain central to Roberto Martinez's attack at the 2026 World Cup.
Thanks to Portugal's 9-1 win over Armenia on November 16, Ronaldo will equal Lionel Messi, as both will compete in the biggest football festival on the planet for the 6th time. Before that, this superstar duo equaled the record of 5 World Cup appearances of the legend Lothar Matthaus (Germany).
While Messi fulfilled his dream by winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, Ronaldo still lacks this title despite having many great achievements: Euro 2016 champion, two Nations League champions, 5 Champions League titles, and domestic cups in England, Spain and Italy.
Participating in the 2026 World Cup will help Ronaldo get closer to the milestone of 1,000 goals in his career. He is also the top scorer in the World Cup qualifiers with 41 goals.
