This is a very important political event for the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Lai Chau province, aimed at reviewing traditions, promoting patriotism, revolutionary heroism, and national pride; creating unity, consensus, and trust among the people of all ethnic groups in Lai Chau province in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

In her commemorative speech, Ms. Giàng Páo Mỷ, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, emphasized: 115 years ago, on June 28, 1909, the Governor-General of Indochina issued a decree establishing Lai Châu province. This historical milestone marked the establishment of Lai Châu as a provincial-level administrative unit. Under the colonial and feudal regimes, the people of Lai Châu, with their patriotic traditions, bravely fought against oppression and exploitation, organizing many successful uprisings, contributing to the glorious history of the nation. On October 10, 1949, the Standing Committee of the 10th Inter-regional Party Committee issued Resolution No. 34 on the establishment of the Lai Châu Cadre Committee - the predecessor organization of the Lai Châu Provincial Party Committee today. This is a historically significant event, affirming the maturity of the revolutionary movement in Lai Châu. From this point onwards, the movement officially had a Party organization directly leading it, becoming an integral part of the nationwide revolutionary movement.
To maximize the province's potential and strengths in socio -economic development and to meet the aspirations of the people, at the 4th session of the 11th National Assembly, Resolution No. 22 on adjusting the administrative boundaries of some provinces was passed. Accordingly, Lai Chau province was divided into two provinces, Lai Chau and Dien Bien, and they came into operation on January 1, 2004. This is an important event, opening a new chapter in the history of the Party Committee and the people of Lai Chau province.

In its early days after separation and establishment, Lai Chau was the most disadvantaged province in the country. In that context, the Party Committee, Government, and people of all ethnic groups in Lai Chau seized opportunities, overcame all difficulties and challenges, and lifted Lai Chau out of its extremely difficult and underdeveloped state, achieving significant and comprehensive achievements in all aspects.
The comprehensive development of Lai Chau province today affirms the correct policy of the Party and State regarding the separation and establishment of the province; at the same time, it affirms that the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in the province always remember and faithfully implement President Ho Chi Minh's advice in his letter to the people and cadres of Lai Chau 70 years ago. In recognition and commendation of the outstanding achievements of the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Lai Chau province, the Party and State have awarded Lai Chau province the Ho Chi Minh Order, the First Class Independence Order, and many other prestigious awards.

The achievements made after 20 years of separation and establishment are a solid foundation and important driving force for Lai Chau to continue to develop even more strongly in the new phase. The Party Committee, Government, and people of all ethnic groups in the province will continue to promote the spirit of unity, turning difficulties into motivation, aspirations into confidence, and the spirit of unity along with opportunities and advantages into strength to successfully achieve the goal of "By 2030, striving to make Lai Chau a province with average development in the northern midland and mountainous region; by 2050, becoming a province with above-average economic and social development nationwide."
In particular, on this occasion, Lai Chau province received the First-Class Labor Medal, which is a great honor and source of pride, and a tremendous encouragement for Lai Chau to move forward and achieve even more successes in its construction and development.
