(HGO) - On the morning of May 27 , the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Chau Thanh district informed that at 4:00 a.m. this morning, another landslide occurred on the canal bank in the district.
The landslide occurred early this morning, May 27, in Phu Tri B1 hamlet, Phu Huu commune .
The landslide occurred at Mr. Tran Van Khiem's household , in Mai Dam canal, Phu Tri B1 hamlet, Phu Huu commune, with a length of 20m, 6m deep into the bank at the widest point, the area of land loss was nearly 120m2 , the landslide affected the rural traffic route .
Since the beginning of the year, 25 landslides have occurred in Chau Thanh district. The main cause is the influence of water flow.
Previously, at 3:00 a.m. on May 26, a landslide also occurred at Mr. Nguyen Van Hiep's household , in Xeo Choi canal, Dong My hamlet, Nga Sau town, Chau Thanh district, with a landslide length of 21m, about 5m deep into the widest part of the bank, and a land loss area of 105m2 , the landslide also affected rural traffic routes.
Upon receiving the news, the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Chau Thanh district went to the scene to coordinate with the People's Committee of Phu Huu commune and Nga Sau town to mobilize militia, police and organizations along with people to participate in overcoming and cleaning up at the landslide sites.
Since the beginning of the year , 27 landslides have occurred in Hau Giang province, with a total length of nearly 600m; the area of land loss is more than 3,180m2 ; estimated damage is more than 1.93 billion VND , of which Chau Thanh district alone has 25 landslides. The worrying thing is that from May 20 until now, landslides have occurred every day in this district and most of the landslides occurred at night. The cause of the landslides was determined to be the influence of the flow.
