Chau Thanh district has consecutive landslides on river banks.

(HG) - The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue said that on the morning of March 25, a landslide occurred on the canal bank at Mr. Tran Van Chien's house, Mai Dam canal, in Phu Loi A hamlet, Phu Huu commune, Chau Thanh district. The landslide was 25m long, 6m deep into the widest part of the bank, and the area of ​​land loss was about 150m². The landslide caused the loss of the outer slope of the rural traffic road, and is currently continuing to erode deeper into the road, with the risk of collapsing the 3.5m wide rural traffic road, with an estimated loss of 40 million VND. The cause of the landslide was due to the influence of the flow.

Most of the landslides since the beginning of the year have been in Chau Thanh district.

Previously, on the afternoon of March 18, a landslide also occurred on the canal bank at the household of Ms. Phan Thi That, in Mai Dam canal, Dong Binh hamlet, Dong Phuoc commune, Chau Thanh district, the landslide was 20m long, 5m deep into the widest part of the bank, and the area of ​​land loss was about 100m². The landslide caused a 2m wide concrete rural road to collapse, with an estimated damage of 45 million VND. The cause of the landslide was due to the influence of the flow.

Upon receiving the news, the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Chau Thanh district went to the scene with the local People's Committee to mobilize militia, police and organizations along with local people to participate in overcoming the landslide.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 10 landslides along river banks in the province, with a length of 223m and a land loss area of ​​1,215m²; estimated damage of 789 million VND.
