From May 10 to July 15, the city will simultaneously carry out a general environmental cleaning campaign throughout the city, focusing on event areas and crowded places. In particular, the fireworks displays taking place every Saturday night (from May 31 to July 12) are the time points that the Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company mobilizes all human resources and cleaning equipment to ensure that all work is carried out safely.
Locations such as the main grandstand on Tran Hung Dao Street, the artillery firing area at Song Han Port, key tourist streets such as Bach Dang, Dragon Bridge, Song Han Bridge, Thuan Phuoc Bridge, Asia Park, etc. have detailed cleaning plans by day, by hour, by each environmental cleaning shift. The company's leaders said that the cleaning enterprises in Son Tra, Hai Chau, Ngu Hanh Son areas, Song Bien environmental enterprise and specialized departments all participated, mobilizing 100% of the workforce.
Each night of the fireworks display, the city arranges 66 public toilets, including 8 in the grandstand area, 38 in common public places and 20 in places with high concentrations of people. Each toilet is maintained, fully supplied with water and electricity and has staff on duty to clean continuously. Along with that, more than 200 trash cans of various types are also installed throughout the festival areas, from the grandstand area, streets to riverside parks so that people can easily dispose of trash in the right place.
A new point in the sanitation plan for DIFF 2025 is that the collection, transportation of waste and maintenance of sanitation at the festival area will be carried out continuously 24/7. Collection vehicles, high-capacity vacuum cleaners, road cleaning vehicles, and specialized transport vehicles will operate in shifts, with a high focus on the time frames before, during, and after the fireworks nights. Not only household waste, but also recyclable waste, light industrial waste, and waste generated from trading and eating activities on the sidewalk will also be classified and treated according to regulations, so that no waste remains after each festival night.
According to information from Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, the total amount of garbage collected at the areas where fireworks were directly viewed on the opening night of DIFF 2025 was 21.52 tons (of which 17.02 tons were in Son Tra district and 4.5 tons were in Hai Chau district), a decrease of 10 tons of garbage (31.75%) compared to the opening night of DIFF 2024. Director of Son Tra Environmental Enterprise Tran Mai Truong acknowledged that the amount of garbage thrown away on the opening night of DIFF 2025 was much less than in previous years. The unit placed many new trash bins in locations where garbage was thrown away in previous years, so most of the garbage generated was thrown into the bins.
The enterprise mobilized all workers and 2 transport vehicles to quickly collect garbage along Tran Hung Dao Street; The Son Tra District Garbage Transfer Station on Van Don Street also extended its operating hours until all the garbage was gone, making it convenient to speed up the garbage collection process. After completing the cleaning and garbage collection on the roads and sidewalks early, Son Tra Environmental Enterprise mobilized workers to clean up and collect garbage in the fireworks viewing area that night, especially picking up garbage under the stands.
Director of the River and Sea Environment Enterprise Nguyen Xuan Hoa said that the amount of plastic waste that people and tourists throw into the Han River is not much. Workers of the River and Sea Environment Enterprise use boats and tools to collect trash on the surface of the Han River to ensure the landscape and environment. At the same time, they coordinate with departments, units and localities to propagate people not to litter, but to put trash in bins and join hands to clean up and collect trash at the fireworks viewing location to ensure the landscape and environment.
In addition to the efforts of functional units, the city calls for the active participation of residents, tourists and the business community in joining hands to maintain hygiene. Community communication campaigns, leaflet distribution, announcements on loudspeaker systems, and outdoor propaganda billboards are deployed simultaneously to spread the message of "Clean city - beautiful festival - friendly people".
