On the afternoon of November 21, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung and his delegation inspected the actual situation and worked with leaders of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, landslides, and floods in the province in recent days.
Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi quickly reported on the impact and damage caused by natural disasters from November 17-21.
In recent days, the province has had heavy and prolonged rains causing many losses in human lives and property, especially in the areas of Da Lat, Don Duong, Duc Trong, and Lam Ha.
Floods killed four people, left one missing and injured another; more than 1,100 households were affected in terms of houses and property, concentrated in the communes of D'ran, Ka Do, Hiep Thanh, Don Duong, Ta Nang, Ninh Gia, Cat Tien...

As soon as the floodwaters rose, local authorities mobilized forces to evacuate people and property to safety, minimizing damage.
Floods also caused heavy damage to agricultural , aquatic and livestock production, with about 1,640 hectares of crops, mainly flowers, damaged or lost.
In particular, traffic and urban infrastructure were seriously affected, many gateway passes leading to Da Lat (administrative center of Lam Dong) such as Prenn, Mimosa, D'ran suffered severe landslides, and traffic had to be temporarily suspended to ensure safety.
Many inter-commune and inter-village roads in localities such as Da Lat, Don Duong, Lam Ha, and Duc Trong were also damaged.
Preliminary statistics show that the recent floods in Lam Dong have caused over 1,000 billion VND in damage. Authorities are still reviewing and assessing the extent of damage in the areas.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung shared with local authorities and people of Lam Dong province about the damage caused by unusual rains and floods in recent days.
The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the initiative of leaders, agencies and localities in preventing and relocating assets to help reduce damage to people.
In the coming time, floods and rains will continue to be complicated. Lam Dong province needs to take measures to count landslide-prone areas and dangerous flood areas to proactively evacuate people and property to ensure safety.
Lam Dong needs to review hydroelectric and irrigation dams that are at risk of being unsafe; remind reservoir owners to adjust flood discharge regulation during the rainy season to minimize damage to people in downstream areas and must have responsibility, solutions to overcome and support damage to people affected by flood discharge.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested Lam Dong province to promptly deploy plans to overcome damage caused by floods, especially to the transport infrastructure system, including key mountain passes such as Prenn, Mimosa, D'ran... The province needs to study and increase the level of damage support for people to help them stabilize their lives soon after natural disasters.
"The Central Government has supported Lam Dong with 200 billion VND, the locality needs to disburse support to the people as soon as possible, this is the number one priority. Within a week, Lam Dong must have a plan, quickly allocate support money and rice to people who have lost their houses, agricultural production, crops and livestock, if the locality does not disburse in time, it will have to take responsibility," Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung emphasized.
On the same morning, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung and his delegation inspected the flood recovery work and encouraged people in D'ran commune, which had just suffered a historic flood due to the Da Nhim hydropower plant releasing water.
The Deputy Prime Minister also inspected the current status of the Prenn and Mimosa passes, which are currently closed to two-way traffic due to severe landslides over the past four days.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister presented 200 billion VND from the Government to support Lam Dong province in overcoming the consequences of floods./.
