Lam Dong strengthens the Command Committee for natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue

According to the Decision, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue (hereinafter referred to as the Steering Committee) consists of 38 members, including leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of departments, branches, armed forces, and enterprises operating in the fields of irrigation, hydropower, and communications.

Comrade Ho Van Muoi, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, plays the role of Head of the Command Committee. The Deputy Heads include: Le Trong Yen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (Permanent Deputy Head); Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment (in charge of natural disaster prevention and control); Commander of the Provincial Military Command (in charge of search and rescue); Director of the Provincial Police (in charge of fire prevention and fighting and search and rescue).

The remaining members are leaders of many departments and branches, such as: Finance, Construction, Health, Industry and Trade, Education and Training, Science and Technology, Culture - Sports and Tourism, Ethnicity and Religion; together with representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Provincial Youth Union, Women's Union, Red Cross, hydropower and telecommunications enterprises, press and water resource management agencies in the province.

The Command Board is responsible for organizing and directing natural disaster prevention and control and search and rescue activities according to the functions prescribed in Clause 4, Article 27 of Decree No. 66/2021/ND-CP dated July 6, 2021 of the Government. In which, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is the standing agency for natural disaster prevention and control; the Provincial Military Command is the standing agency for search and rescue work. The Standing Office of the Board is located at the Provincial Irrigation and Water Resources Sub-Department, the staff on duty is assigned by the Sub-Department Head concurrently.

The reorganization of the Command Board aims to strengthen the capacity of direction, coordination, and improve the effectiveness of coordination between agencies and units in disaster response, search and rescue in the area. This is also the content of the concretization of the Government's new policies and directions on organizational structure and personnel to ensure streamlining, effectiveness, and meeting practical requirements.

This Decision takes effect from the date of signing. Leaders of relevant agencies and units; Chairmen of People's Committees of communes, wards, special zones and members are responsible for implementing tasks according to regulations, ensuring that disaster prevention, control and rescue work is carried out promptly and effectively, minimizing damage to people and property.
