This is the first time the locality has applied high-tech solutions to clean up the marine environment in the area, contributing to ensuring safety for tourists and the beauty of the tourism exploitation area.
Bai Sau Beach, Vung Tau Ward is one of the famous tourist destinations, attracting thousands of visitors every day, especially during holidays, Tet and weekends. Therefore, this area is always under great pressure with the amount of waste generated, along with the waste drifting from the sea to the shore such as water hyacinth, coconut shells, wood chips, etc. During each peak season, the local government has to mobilize hundreds of people to clean up, which takes effort and money but is not very effective.
Faced with this situation, the People's Committee of Vung Tau Ward has coordinated with Tam Hoang Thien Limited Liability Company to pilot an automatic sand screening vehicle model with the goal of cleaning the beach effectively, saving manpower while still ensuring urban aesthetics and safety for tourists. The vehicle operates from 8:00 p.m. the previous day to 1:00 a.m. the following day, this is the time frame when there are no more visitors swimming or playing in order to avoid affecting tourism activities.
The sand screening vehicle is designed with a front cab and a rear screening system. When operating, the surface sand and waste will be sucked up, through the screening system to separate clean sand from waste. Clean sand is spread back to the beach, while waste is collected in the storage compartment and taken away for processing. This technology can handle both soft and hard waste, which is difficult to do with manual methods.
Mr. Le Tan Nghia, Deputy Director of Tam Hoang Thien Limited Liability Company, said that the Company not only invests in modern equipment but also focuses on training human resources, linking social responsibility with the goal of sustainable development. The Company's desire is to work with the community to build a green - clean - beautiful Vung Tau and is willing to share this model with other coastal localities. After each screening round, the beach is returned with a clean and flat layer of sand, and all the garbage is gathered for classification and proper processing.
Many tourists expressed their satisfaction with the new image of the beach. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, a tourist from Lam Dong province, shared that she was very impressed with the local approach. The cleaner beach made her feel secure and comfortable when taking her family on vacation here.
The leaders of Vung Tau Ward People's Committee assessed that the application of automatic sand screening vehicles not only helps save costs and human resources but also contributes to enhancing the image of friendly, professional and civilized tourism. However, technology is only part of the solution. To protect the beach in the long term, it is necessary for the community to join hands in maintaining hygiene, not littering and spreading awareness of environmental protection.
