Accordingly, on September 12, the Market Management Department coordinated with the Police Department of Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy , Smuggling and Environment - An Giang Provincial Police to conduct a surprise inspection of the CAT business household in Rach Gia Ward. Through the inspection, the authorities temporarily detained more than 21,200 products including pills, nut milk powder, food supplements... and sent 9 samples for quality testing.
The results showed that many products did not meet the declared standards, including a product sample that only had 3.8% of the calcium content compared to the standard, and was identified as counterfeit. The total value of counterfeit goods was about 95 million VND, while the poor quality goods amounted to more than 13 billion VND.

Based on the verification results, the provincial Market Management Department has drawn up an administrative violation record against the CAT business household for three violations in the commercial field. The case file has been transferred to the An Giang Provincial Police Investigation Agency to clarify the act of producing and trading counterfeit goods, while the other two administrative acts have been transferred to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and handling.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tho said: “The actions related to counterfeit goods have been transferred to the investigation agency for handling according to regulations. For poor quality goods, businesses must recall and recycle; counterfeit goods will be destroyed.”
Mr. Tho emphasized that recently, the An Giang provincial Market Management Department has strengthened market inspection and supervision, especially for consumer goods, functional foods, pharmaceuticals and imported products. The authorities have coordinated with relevant sectors to carry out more than 200 inspections, detected and handled 43 violations, and collected nearly 1.5 billion VND for the budget.
According to the Market Management Department, propaganda work has been promoted to help people and businesses raise awareness of compliance with the law on product quality, labels, business registration and origin. This is also the basis for creating a healthy business environment, protecting the legitimate rights of consumers and the reputation of genuine businesses in the province after the merger.
