Speaking at the rally, Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh informed that there are currently about 935 drug addicts and illegal drug users in the city. The number of drug cases detected each year is higher than the previous year, and the amount of drugs seized is increasing. Alarmingly, a number of young people perceive that synthetic drugs are only stimulants that cause immediate euphoria, are not addictive, and do not affect health.

To continue to effectively implement the work of preventing and combating crime and drug abuse in the city, and at the same time, complete the city's socio-economic development target for 2025 "100% of communes and wards do not increase the number of drug addicts", Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh requested that Party committees and authorities at all levels fully recognize their roles and responsibilities and lead and direct the drastic and synchronous implementation of measures and solutions, mobilizing the strength of the political system to participate in the work of preventing, combating and controlling drugs.

At the same time, strengthen propaganda to raise awareness and warn the whole society, creating a strong communication campaign on drug prevention and control with the goal of building drug-free communes and wards.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee emphasized the effective implementation of the "demand reduction" work; from there, he requested departments, branches, localities, especially the Public Security, Health, Agriculture and Environment, Home Affairs, Culture and Sports to organize a peak period of screening, statistics, management of drug addicts, illegal drug users, psychotic subjects, "stoned", post-rehabilitation management. At the same time, organize the implementation of management measures for each specific group in a more practical direction; ensure 100% of addiction cases, use management records requiring strict management plans. The implementation needs to be associated with social security work, job creation, limiting the causes and conditions for the emergence of drug addicts and drug users.

Along with that, continue to do a good job of "supply blocking", cutting off the supply of smuggled drugs from outside, infiltrating the city; promote the core and leading role of specialized agencies, especially the leading role in drug prevention, control and combat of the police force, border guards, customs...

At the end of the rally, the forces marched along the streets of Thuan Hoa and Phu Xuan districts with the message "One determination - For a drug-free community".
