At the ceremony, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien emphasized that over the past nearly 80 years, the Vietnam Red Cross Society has become a reliable bridge between the Party, the State, organizations and individuals inside and outside the political system with those in need of support. This is also a professional, core humanitarian organization, an active member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. "Humanitarian Month" has become a special highlight in humanitarian work, spreading the value of humanity throughout society.
Mr. Do Van Chien said that our country is entering a new era - the era of building a rich and prosperous nation, for the well-being and happiness of the people. In the context of many advantages but also facing many challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, epidemics, etc., the Vietnam Red Cross Society needs to continue to innovate its thinking and methods of operation, closely follow reality, closely connect with vulnerable groups; ensure the implementation of humanitarian principles (urgent, professional, transparent and compassionate).
At the same time, the association needs to strongly promote its core role, position and prestige in the new situation, clearly affirming its particularly important role in mobilizing, connecting and coordinating social resources, especially from the business community, to join the Party and the State in implementing social security policies; caring for people in difficult circumstances, the disadvantaged, victims of natural disasters, catastrophes, epidemics and emergency situations.
Since being allowed by the Central Party Secretariat to pilot in 2018 and officially implemented from 2021, "Humanitarian Month" has connected millions of hearts for a humane and sustainable Vietnam. Over the past 7 years, the total mobilization value of "Humanitarian Month" has reached over 3,700 billion VND, helping more than 7.3 million people, in 2024 alone it reached over 763 billion VND, helping over 1.6 million people.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee mobilized citizens of countries working, studying and living in Ho Chi Minh City to participate in voluntary blood donation.
Mr. Chan Sorykan, Consul General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Vietnam, stated that this program benefits society, community and the country by creating opportunities for the Cambodian community in Ho Chi Minh City to carry out good deeds. This also demonstrates the close relationship between Cambodia and Vietnam not only at the government level but also spreads widely to the people and businesses of the two countries.
