Lang Son meets with veterans and revolutionary soldiers on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation Day

NDO - On April 24, Lang Son province held a meeting to pay tribute to 159 veterans, former youth volunteers, and revolutionary soldiers who were captured and imprisoned by the enemy and participated in the resistance war against American imperialism to save the country. This is a practical and meaningful activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

At the meeting, delegates reviewed the glorious traditions and contributions of the army and people of all ethnic groups in the resistance war against American imperialism to save the country.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quan, Chairman of the Veterans Association of Lang Son province, emphasized that with the spirit of "All for the South", during the resistance war, the province had more than 27,000 young people enlisting in the army and more than 4,600 young volunteers participating in combat service. Of these, more than 4,200 cadres, soldiers and young volunteers heroically sacrificed; more than 1,300 people left part of their blood and bones on the battlefield; 151 revolutionary soldiers were captured and imprisoned by the enemy; more than 800 people participating in the resistance war were infected with toxic chemicals.

In recognition of the contributions of the army and people of Lang Son ethnic groups, the Party and State have conferred the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces on 19 cases; 207 mothers were conferred the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother...

After the war, returning to normal life, veterans, former youth volunteers, and revolutionary soldiers captured and imprisoned by the enemy have promoted the nature and tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", exemplary in implementing the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's laws,educating the younger generation about revolutionary traditions, contributing to the cause of innovation and building an increasingly prosperous homeland...


Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Hoang Van Nghiem, Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee, affirmed: The veterans, former youth volunteers, and revolutionary soldiers who were captured and imprisoned by the enemy are those who did not spare their youth and blood to contribute to the cause of national liberation and reunification; they are the embodiment of a resilient and indomitable will. This is living proof of the revolutionary spirit that does not yield to any form of torture, danger, and imprisonment by the enemy, creating immortal miracles.

The Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee suggested that the Party committees, authorities, agencies, departments, branches and organizations in the province create favorable conditions for war veterans, former youth volunteers and revolutionary soldiers who were captured and imprisoned by the enemy to continue to carry out emulation movements well, have the conditions to participate in socio -economic development; become the core in propaganda and mobilization work, raise awareness, create consensus and high support among the people for the policies and decisions of the Party and State.
