Prachachart Party Chairman Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, former Speaker of the House of Representatives from 1996 to 2000, was nominated by Forward Party Chairman Pita Limjaroenrat to be Speaker of the 26th House of Representatives. As other political parties did not nominate competing candidates, Wan Noor was the sole candidate and automatically became Speaker of the House without having to go through a secret ballot.
