Wagner leader declares Russia has complete control of Bakhmut

Mr. Prigozhin announced in a video posted on the social network Telegram: "At noon on May 20, 2023 (local time), Russia captured all of Bakhmut (the Russian side calls it Artemovsk)."

Bakhmut is located north of the city of Gorlovka. The city of Bakhmut is an important transport hub with many crossroads for the Donbass region and served as a supply center for Ukrainian forces stationed in the region at the beginning of the "special military operation" launched by Russia in Ukraine more than a year ago.

Bakhmut has seen fierce fighting between Russia and Ukraine over the past several months.
