Hoa Binh health workers spread the message of 'no smoking' through a law competition

(PLVN) - The Health Sector Trade Union of Hoa Binh province recently organized a contest "Learning about the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms" in 2025 with the theme "The role of workers, civil servants, and employees in the health sector in preventing and controlling the harmful effects of tobacco and building smoke-free medical facilities".

The contest attracted the participation of 130 contestants from 13 teams representing medical units in the province such as District and City Medical Centers, Provincial General Hospital, Traditional Medicine Hospital and Provincial Center for Disease Control.

The teams competed in three parts: greeting, knowledge and speech. The special feature of this year's competition was the creativity in the way they performed: from dramatization, skits, singing and dancing to answering questions about legal knowledge and handling real-life situations. Thanks to that, messages about the harmful effects of tobacco and the benefits of a smoke-free environment were conveyed in a close, vivid and easy-to-understand manner.

The organizers said that the contest aims to raise awareness and responsibility of health sector officials and employees in implementing the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms, while promoting the construction of green - clean - smoke-free medical facilities. Thereby, contributing to protecting public health, reducing the incidence of dangerous diseases such as lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, etc.

At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to the team from the Provincial General Hospital. Two second prizes went to the Traditional Medicine Hospital and the Mai Chau District Medical Center. Three third prizes were awarded to the Provincial Center for Disease Control, the Hoa Binh City Medical Center and the Luong Son District Medical Center. In addition, seven teams received consolation prizes.

The contest is not only a practical playground for medical workers but also an important step in communication work to change behavior, build a clean, safe medical environment, and say no to tobacco.
