Khanh Hoa launches marine resource regeneration - Action for the blue ocean

(PLVN) - Responding to Vietnam Sea and Islands Week, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee organized a launching ceremony to restore aquatic resources and coral reefs in Nha Trang Bay. More than 423,500 fish and shrimp fry were released into the natural environment on the morning of June 8 - a specific and practical action towards the goal of sustainable development of the marine economy.

The launching ceremony was chaired by Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, co-organized by the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province, taking place at the Vinpearl tourist wharf area - Nha Trang Bay.

Attending the ceremony were leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of the Provincial People's Committee Office and representatives of relevant departments, branches and sectors such as the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Border Guard Command. Representatives of scientific and social organizations such as the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center, Khanh Hoa Fisheries Association, and the Youth Union of the Department of Agriculture and Environment also participated. Thereby demonstrating the spirit of active multi-sectoral coordination and widespread interest from many fields in the work of protecting the marine environment.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dinh Van Thieu - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee affirmed: "Khanh Hoa is one of the localities with a long coastline and rich potential for marine economic development. In the coming time, when merging with Ninh Thuan province, Khanh Hoa will become the locality with the longest coastline in the country - over 490km. That raises the urgent need for protecting marine resources, restoring coral reefs and regenerating aquatic resources, as a long-term sustainable development strategy."

After the ceremony at the pier area, the delegates moved to the coral reef and mangrove forest in Dam Bay to directly participate in releasing more than 423,500 fish and shrimp fry into the sea, opening a series of marine conservation activities within the framework of the 2025 Sea Culture - Tourism Festival and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week.

This is not only a symbolic event, but also a call for the community to join hands in action - through movements such as cleaning the ocean, reducing plastic waste, applying green technology in aquaculture - exploitation of aquatic products, and raising public awareness through social networks and modern media.

Protecting the marine environment, restoring coral reefs, and regenerating aquatic resources is not only a responsibility but also a fundamental solution for sustainable development. The release of native aquatic species at Dam Bay - Nha Trang Bay today is a vivid demonstration of that commitment.

According to Plan No. 3944/KH-SNNMT-CCTSBHĐ of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, this seed release activity is part of a series of programs to restore the marine ecosystem and ensure livelihoods for coastal fishermen - especially in areas affected by tourism and climate change such as Nha Trang Bay. With the joint efforts of the government, businesses and the community, these activities are expected to lay the foundation for a model of marine economic development in harmony with nature conservation in the coming years.
