Following the Deputy Director of Vinh Linh Social Policy Bank, Le Vinh Truong, we visited Mr. Khoa's family's chicken farm. Along the way, Mr. Truong commented: "We got to know Mr. Khoa in the process of supporting him to access policy capital and have been with him until now. He is loved by many people because he is hard-working, kind, and always knows how to invest in techniques and technology to minimize labor. Besides, he does not hesitate to share his experiences with those who are in need, have the same goal of economic development, and contribute to building a developed society like him."

The success of raising chickens has helped Mr. Khoa's family build 3 chicken farms in just 6 years. With the experience gained in raising small-scale poultry, in 2019, he started building his first chicken farm with a scale of 6,000 chickens. Raising chickens in a joint venture, he and his wife are supported with investment in breeding stock, care techniques, advance payments for animal feed and product consumption, thereby reducing some of the pressure on raising chickens.

To raise poultry safely and prevent diseases, he invested hundreds of millions of dong in a cooling system; installed heating lamps to maintain a stable temperature in the barn in winter. At the same time, he followed the technical process, kept the barn clean and airy, and maintained the temperature at 28-29 degrees Celsius. “To raise chickens effectively, in addition to understanding the characteristics of each breed of chicken, applying science and technology is very important. From barn management to monitoring the flock, everything must have a meticulous, detailed plan, following the company's instructions. The barn must ensure hygiene, regularly vaccinate against infectious diseases, the barn must be airy and cool; the barn floor should be built of cement, thick, anti-slip, with a suitable slope, easy to drain for easy cleaning of the barn,” said Mr. Khoa.

Overcoming the initial difficulties, especially in the process of operating the system, Mr. Khoa and his wife have become more and more proficient with the livestock farming model in the form of association. Realizing that livestock farming is increasingly effective, from 2021 to 2025, Mr. Khoa and his wife decided to build the second and third farms with scales of 10,000 and 20,000 pigs, respectively. According to Mr. Khoa, when raising livestock in the form of large-scale farms, there needs to be a link between farmers and businesses for mutual development, which will limit market risks for product output. “On average, each batch of chickens can be sold after 3 months of raising them. Compared to traditional chicken farming, joint chicken farming is more convenient for farmers. Moreover, thanks to the application of automatic systems, taking care of chickens becomes easier, we have time to do other work. Raising chickens alone brings my family an income of more than 200 million VND/year,” Mr. Khoa confided. Not only developing the family economy, his chicken farm also creates regular jobs for 4 workers and seasonal jobs for 6 workers in the area.

Mr. Khoa also said that during the process of raising chickens, he regularly spreads a quantity of rice husks to ensure humidity and absorb odors. This is also an additive that, together with chicken manure, makes a very effective organic fertilizer. Thanks to regularly applying this, despite raising a large flock, all three of his chicken farms are still clean and have no unpleasant odors. In addition to providing commercial chickens, in recent years, Mr. Khoa has also provided organic fertilizers to local and foreign people in need.

In parallel, he and his wife also planted about 2 hectares of rubber trees and some fruit trees to increase family income. Having participated in the work of the farmers' association, understanding the desire of farmers to develop the economy, he is always open to sharing, consulting on techniques and livestock farming experiences; connecting and supporting other livestock households in the area to cooperate with businesses to develop the economy and build brands for livestock products of local people. Local people often come to his farm to learn from his experience.
