Crab farming is one of the two main aquatic product sectors of Ca Mau (after shrimp) and has been granted geographical indication certification, which is also an important legal tool in managing and promoting the brand. With favorable natural conditions, in 2024, the entire province had 252,000 hectares of integrated crab farming, with a production of over 25,200 tons. After the merger, Ca Mau aims to become the largest crab farming center in the country, striving to achieve a total production of approximately 40,000 tons by 2030.
Through the Crab Festival, the province hopes to connect and cooperate with domestic and foreign businesses and investors, gradually building a complete value chain for the marine crab industry; and enhancing the competitiveness of the Ca Mau crab brand in domestic and international markets.
“ Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su emphasized : “The Ca Mau Crab Festival is not only an opportunity to honor the province's characteristic product but also demonstrates the local vision for sustainable development and international integration. Through this, it affirms the brand, spreads its value, and enhances the position of Ca Mau crab, the pride of the southernmost region of the country.”
