In 2023, although the professional workload of the National Defense and Security Committee was very large and the human resources were limited, under the strong direction of the leaders of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC), the Standing Committee of the National Defense and Security Committee proactively and actively promoted the spirit of solidarity, overcame difficulties, and successfully completed professional tasks according to the set program and plan. In particular, it successfully completed the tasks that arose when the Government submitted 6 additional draft laws under the Committee's responsibility for the National Assembly to add to the program, discuss and comment on 6 draft laws, passed 3 laws, 1 resolution at the 5th Session (of which 2 laws were passed according to the 1-session process); commented on 3 draft laws and passed 3 draft laws at the 6th Session.

In addition, the National Defense and Security Committee also carries out the Committee's supervision topics and presides over assisting the National Assembly Standing Committee in the content of the National Defense and Security Committee's supervision topics in 2024; organizes many seminars, discussions, and surveys to serve the work of examining, receiving, explaining, and revising draft laws chaired by the Committee and participates in deciding on important issues of the country. The National Defense and Security Committee has also coordinated well with ministries, branches, units, and localities to perform well the functions and tasks of the Committee in all areas of work, such as legislation, supervision, foreign affairs activities; people's petition work, personnel organization work, as well as many other tasks assigned by the National Assembly Party Delegation and the National Assembly Standing Committee, and the National Assembly leadership.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong highly appreciated the summary report of the National Assembly Committee for National Defense and Security, which, although brief, fully stated the results of its work - one of the National Assembly Committees that reviewed the most draft laws during the year. He shared the difficulties and limitations of the Committee and suggested that a deeper analysis be needed to find solutions to overcome them. At the same time, the Committee members need to unite and coordinate to effectively implement their expertise in the coming time.
