On the morning of August 22, Tan Son Nhat International Airport announced that during the National Day holiday on September 2 this year, the airport is expected to welcome a large increase in passengers and flights, especially domestic flights. This is an important peak travel period right after the summer, forecasting great pressure on the airport's operations as well as passenger service.

According to statistics, during the peak summer season of 2025 (from May 22 to August 17), Tan Son Nhat Airport will serve 60,144 flights, an average of 699 flights/day, an increase of 5.94% over the same period in 2024. In terms of passengers, there will be a total of more than 10.2 million departures and arrivals, an average of 118,891 passengers/day, an increase of 4.48% over the previous year. Of which, international visitors will increase sharply by 7.73%, while domestic visitors will increase by 2.39%.
Entering the upcoming National Day holiday of September 2, from August 30 to September 2, the expected exploitation output will increase by about 6% compared to the present. On average, the airport will have about 730 flights departing and arriving each day, including 430 domestic flights and 300 international flights. The expected number of passengers will reach 125,000/day, including 75,000 domestic passengers and 50,000 international passengers.

On the two peak days of August 30 (peak domestic departures) and September 2 (peak domestic arrivals), Tan Son Nhat can serve up to 750 flights with 130,000 passengers per day (a record high during the holiday season).
In preparation for the sudden increase in travel demand, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has coordinated with airlines and ground service units to complete the transfer of domestic flights to Passenger Terminal T3. Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines , Pacific Airlines, Vasco, Bamboo Airways and Vietravel Airlines have all transferred all domestic flights from Terminal T1 to Terminal T3. Vietjet Air will continue to serve passengers at Terminal T1 as it is now. This allocation is to reduce the load on the old terminal and at the same time help passengers have a more convenient experience.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport recommends that passengers should proactively arrive at the airport at least 2 hours early for domestic flights and 3 hours early for international flights to avoid congestion, especially during peak days. Carefully check the departure terminal information on the ticket or from the airline to move to the correct terminal T1 or T3. Take advantage of online check-in services, check-in kiosks and automatic baggage storage to shorten the check-in time. Limit seeing off large crowds at the airport during holidays, contributing to reducing traffic pressure in the arrival/departure terminal area.
With careful preparation, Tan Son Nhat International Airport is committed to closely coordinating with airlines, security forces and functional units to ensure safe, continuous and smooth operations, serving passengers during the National Day holiday on September 2 in the most thoughtful and convenient way.
