The "Glorifying Vietnamese Culinary Culture" festival opened last night, October 20th, at the Independence Palace to honor the unique culinary cultures of different regions across the country. The program was jointly organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, the Saigon Professional Chefs Association, and the Center for Research, Preservation and Development of Vietnamese Cuisine.
The festival features approximately 100 stalls showcasing regional dishes for the public. Here, visitors can experience and enjoy regional specialties prepared by professional chefs and culinary artisans from Ho Chi Minh City and other localities. The event will conclude tomorrow, October 22nd.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, after being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the revenue of the food and beverage service sector has experienced rapid and remarkable growth.
According to the organizers, the highlight of the event is the competition among hundreds of chefs, showcasing 126 signature dishes from 63 provinces and cities across Vietnam on a culinary map. For the first time, a food map featuring unique and distinctive regional cuisines from all over the country will be displayed within the festival grounds.

According to Ho Chi Minh City's tourism leaders, one of the highlights of Vietnam's culinary tourism products in 2023 was the first-ever recognition of 55 restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City on the Michelin Guide. This is a major step forward for the city's culinary tourism, contributing to increased media coverage and attracting domestic and international tourists to experience its rich and appealing cuisine.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Vietnamese cuisine has recently gained recognition and received major international awards, being selected by CNN as one of the 50 best dishes in the world in 2019. To promote Vietnamese cuisine internationally, tourism promotion activities in Vietnam are always closely linked to promoting the culture and cuisine of all regions of the country.
The food items at the festival are priced higher than the market average, such as: chicken feet at 95,000 VND/box, noodle soup at 60,000 VND/bowl, strawberry tea at 35,000 VND/glass...
