Vietnam Cultural Exchange Festival

The festival was attended by many leaders of the provincial government, departments of Okinawa province;education and travel companies and more than 7,000 local people and the Vietnamese community studying and living in Okinawa. The festival has received the attention of leaders of the provincial government, local people and international tourists in Okinawa.
At the opening ceremony, Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Fukuoka, Ms. Vu Chi Mai emphasized: “Today's festival is a premise for the next festivals and forums to strengthen friendship and promote the country and people of Vietnam to Okinawa and vice versa. We hope that through the festival, we will convey information to the Vietnamese people to know more about the potential and strengths of tourism, agriculture and especially strengthen the connection in the Vietnamese community in Okinawa, further tightening the relationship, cultural exchange, tourism between the two countries”. Consul General Vu Chi Mai thanked the provincial government for creating conditions to organize the festival and highly appreciated the efforts, endeavors and hard work of the Vietnamese community and the Vietnamese Association in Okinawa to make the first Vietnam - Japan Cultural Exchange Festival held in Okinawa a great success.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, President of the Vietnamese Association in Okinawa, Head of the Organizing Committee expressed her sincere gratitude to the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka for always supporting and closely following, and thanked the leaders, authorities at all levels of Okinawa province, businesses, and sponsors for always accompanying, supporting, and creating conditions for the Vietnamese Association in Okinawa to organize this Cultural Exchange Festival. At the same time, she hoped that through this event, she could create more connection in the Vietnamese community in Okinawa, helping local people and international friends better understand Vietnamese culture and cuisine .
Mr. Sa-o-da Ha-ya-to, Head of the Cultural Promotion Department, Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Okinawa Prefecture, affirmed that this is one of the meaningful programs that contributes to strengthening the relationship between the two countries, especially in the year of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan; this is also an opportunity for Okinawans to learn more about the traditional culture and typical cuisine of Vietnam. The festival will definitely attract the attention of many Japanese people and the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Okinawa.
The festival featured more than 20 booths introducing Vietnamese and Japanese handicrafts, tourism and cuisine. In addition, Japanese people and international friends had the opportunity to enjoy special cultural programs such as Ao Dai performances, Karate and Vovinam dances, and songs praising the love for the homeland, country and people of Vietnam and Japan.
