Tieu Mai Festival of Hiep Hoa culture

(CLO) The Tieu Mai Festival in Hiep Hoa, Bac Giang is associated with the resounding victory on the Nhu Nguyet defense line of the Ly Dynasty army and people defeating the invading Song army in 1077.

On March 1, at Linh Quang Pagoda, Mai Ha Village, Mai Dinh Commune, Hiep Hoa District, Bac Giang Province, the opening ceremony of the Tieu Mai Xuan At Ty Festival 2025 and the Great Ceremony to Pray for National Peace and People's Prosperity took place.

Mr. Hoang Cong Bo, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hiep Hoa district, said that the Boat Racing Festival and the Flower Throwing Festival in Tieu Mai village are associated with the resounding victory on the Nhu Nguyet front line of the Ly army and people against the Song army in 1077. These activities have become traditional beauty, demonstrating the martial spirit, indomitable will and desire for peace of our people.

With the desire to preserve and promote the value of the recognized national intangible cultural heritage, Hiep Hoa district upgraded the Tieu Mai festival to the district level, to become an important highlight in the cultural heritage and tourism map of Bac Giang province.

The activities of this year's Tieu Mai Festival take place in the villages of Mai Dinh Commune, along the left bank of the Cau River, which contains many legends. The festival is held for 3 days, from February 28 to March 2 (ie February 1 to 3 of the lunar calendar), with many solemn rituals and unique and rich activities.

The highlights of this festival are the Great Ceremony to Pray for National Peace and Prosperity, the Fish Release Ceremony at Linh Quang Pagoda on March 1st; and the Flower Throwing Festival at Ngu Giap Temple on the afternoon of March 1st.

The Tieu Mai village rowing festival, listed as a national intangible cultural heritage, will be held tomorrow, March 2.

After the opening ceremony, in the warm spring weather and solemn atmosphere, delegates and monks participated in the ceremony to pray for national prosperity and peace. This part of the ceremony is meant to pray for national prosperity and peace, and for the people to be warm, happy and prosperous; at the same time, to express deep gratitude to our ancestors who have made great contributions to the cause of building and defending the country throughout the history of the nation.
