8th generation Lexus ES adds hybrid powertrain and electric motor

The 8th generation Lexus ES was officially introduced at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show and has a pure electric variant with a new design language inspired by the electric SUV - Lexus RZ and the Lexus LF-ZL concept, which appeared at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show.

The new 2026 Lexus ES is built on Toyota's global TNGA GA-K platform, but the ES does not replace the LS. The grille is what distinguishes the two versions of hybrid or pure electric powertrain.

However, the pure electric Lexus ES is designed seamlessly, optimizing aerodynamics. The headlights are separate from the daytime running lights and the L-Signature LED lights are located on the cluster. The Lexus ES is equipped with 18-21 inch wheels, while the pure electric version is equipped with 19 inch wheels.

The new generation Lexus ES has dimensions of length x width x height of 5,140 x 1,920 x 1,555 mm, for the pure electric version the height is increased by 5 mm. The wheelbase is 2,950 mm. The exterior of the Lexus ES has 7 colors, including: Sonic Chrome gray, Sonic Copper, Sonic Titanium gray; especially the new color - Sou blue.

The new design is more aerodynamic with hidden door handles and embossed lines on the body. The rear of the car is impressive with the characteristic L-shaped taillights and illuminated LEXUS logo.

The interior of the new Lexus ES follows the design philosophy of "Clean Tech x Elegance", providing superior visibility. The screen behind the steering wheel is 12.3 inches in size. The new steering wheel design of the Lexus ES has the word "LEXUS" instead of the logo.

Customers can choose from black, white, brown and blue interior colours. The rear seats (depending on the version) have extra calf support thanks to the 80mm increased wheelbase.

The standard 14-inch center screen has "Responsive Hidden Switches" function keys, Mark Levinson 3D Surround sound system with integrated decorative lighting, and a control screen for convenience features on the rear seat armrest....

The Sensory Concierge function helps change the color of interior lighting, air conditioning, music , air conditioning... to help users relax with the themes Inspire, Radiance and Revitalize. Integrated into the air conditioning system is the fragrance function Tenko, Keifu, Seiyo, Hanya and Shinmei.

The new generation Lexus ES is introduced with two hybrid engine options: ES300h and ES350h, of which the two pure electric versions are ES350e and ES500e.

Lexus ES hybrid version, equipped with 2.0L or 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engine, with power ranges of 197, 201 and 247 horsepower, combined with eCVT gearbox and front-wheel drive or full-time four-wheel drive (depending on version).

The electric motor version has 2 options including 1 front-wheel drive motor or 2 front and rear motors, with a capacity of 224 horsepower and 343 horsepower; maximum travel range of 685 km and 610 km.

The new generation ES is equipped with many safety features from the Lexus Safety System + package.

The new ES's suspension is tuned to match the TNGA GA-K chassis, with the addition of rear-wheel steering and a DIRECT4 drive system capable of sending 100% of the torque to one axle.

The new generation Lexus ES will be distributed from mid-2026, prices of each version have not been announced.
