Vietnam Team: While there is life, there is hope...
Vietnam lost the top spot in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers after a heavy 0-4 defeat at Bukit Jalil Stadium against Malaysia. The home team transformed strongly with 9/11 quality naturalized Western players, on a day when coach Kim Sang-sik lost a series of defensive pillars.
This will pose a challenge for Mr. Kim and his team with the goal of having to win by a similar margin at home in the second leg. But before that, we will have to fulfill the necessary condition of finding the winning streak again.
Two months after the 2025-2026 V-League kicks off, the Vietnamese team will play at home against Nepal, the team currently at the bottom of the table with two losses, on October 9, 2025. It is still unclear whether the match will take place at My Dinh Stadium or not.

This will be the match where coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will enter the field with a very clear goal of a convincing victory, regaining momentum and confidence while waiting for the return of Xuan Son - who was predicted to return to the field from September.
Meanwhile, Malaysia will play away against Laos. Although they have just equalized the score with Vietnam after defeating Nepal 2-1, the scenario of Laos holding or beating Malaysia, which is as strong as... the West, is very unlikely.
Then just a few days later in the next round taking place on October 14, 2025, the Vietnamese team will travel to Nepal as guests, while the Malaysian team will host Laos at home.
Coach Kim Sang-sik and Peter Cklamovski will prepare before the rematch in March 2026.

In the 5th round, the Vietnamese team will visit Laos on November 18, 2025 with the expectation that Xuan Son has regained his high form and is capable of starting. Malaysia will also visit Nepal in the final match of 2025 in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Waiting for Xuan Son to bring miracles
These will be three matches that both the Vietnamese and Malaysian teams must win. For coach Kim Sang-sik and his team, these matches (and the friendly matches that will be planned by the VFF) are an opportunity for the Vietnamese team and Xuan Son to gradually regain their peak form.
With a full squad and the special understanding between Xuan Son and his teammates from the 2024 AFF Cup, the Vietnamese team hopes to have the best preparation for the decisive second leg match on the final match day of March 31, 2026.

At home, coach Kim Sang-sik will face Peter Cklamovski again with the sole goal of having to win by 4 goals if they want to participate in the 2027 Asian Cup (in case of equal head-to-head results, the goal difference with other teams in Group F will be compared).
Although the hope is still small, the Vietnamese team will have to strive to compete for honor and prepare for a longer journey ahead. In particular, the return of Xuan Son with a sufficiently large number of accumulated matches will be the basis for us to dream of miracles.
The three away matches of the Vietnam team in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the broadcasting rights in Vietnam belong to VTV. In addition to the Malaysia - Vietnam match at 8:00 p.m. on June 10, 2025 (we lost 0-4). Then there are the Nepal - Vietnam matches on October 14, 2025 and the Laos - Vietnam match on November 18, 2025.
The home matches of the Vietnam team, including Vietnam vs Laos on March 25, 2025 (won), Vietnam - Nepal on October 9, 2025 and Vietnam - Malaysia on March 31, 2026, will be broadcast on the FPT Play platform.
