Long Chau promotes early screening for public health and the future of Vietnamese people

Proactive health care is not only a medical solution, but also a foundation for contributing to the sustainable development of the country. In that spirit, Long Chau pharmacy system provides free early screening for chronic kidney disease in the community. The program creates conditions for people to monitor their health, diagnose promptly and access early prevention methods.

"Thanks to Long Chau, I discovered chronic kidney disease early, giving me the opportunity to prevent the risk of kidney failure before there were any obvious signs." This statement was repeated by many people after participating in the free health screening program implemented by the Long Chau pharmacy system since June. This is a practical community activity that helps people detect chronic kidney disease early - a disease that is increasing and tends to get younger in recent years.

Long Chau accompanies strategic partners and local medical centers in early screening for chronic kidney disease, diabetes and hypertension for people.

According to the Ministry of Health , chronic kidney disease (CKD) is often referred to as a 'silent killer' because it progresses silently with unclear symptoms in the early stages. It is predicted that CKD will soon become the fifth leading cause of death globally by 2040 if there are no timely and effective interventions.

With the spirit of proactive health care, Long Chau has coordinated with local medical centers and leading German pharmaceutical companies to implement a series of free early screening programs for chronic kidney disease in many provinces and cities. Thereby, people are tested for proteinuria using modern rapid testing equipment - a method that helps detect early signs of potential kidney disease. At-risk cases will be carefully consulted by doctors and guided to perform specialized tests to comprehensively assess kidney function.

Ms. LTTâm, 76 years old, living in Phu Nhuan, Ho Chi Minh City, shared: "I'm old, I have all kinds of diseases... from hepatitis B to stage 2 and stage 3 kidney failure. Listening to the doctor, I was worried. Today, I heard that Long Chau organized a health check-up program for the elderly, I was very happy, at least I have a place to get checked again, ask questions, and feel a little more secure. The doctor examined me very carefully and explained clearly. I'm old, my children live far away, my husband and I take care of each other, so I feel very warm when I receive such attention. I just hope there will be more programs like this, so that elderly people like me have the opportunity to detect diseases early, and be guided on how to take care of their health properly. If I hadn't participated in this screening program, I would have missed the opportunity to detect chronic kidney disease early."

Medical experts, doctors advise and listen to people's opinions

As a retired cadre, Ms. TTLThu is currently the main 'spiritual' pillar for the whole family. "My children work all day, I take care of the house and the grandchildren. My children say: 'If something happens to Mom, we don't know what to do,'" she said.

"As I get older, my body starts to speak up, and the doctor also advises me to take care of my health. However, I am busy with my family, so I don't pay much attention. On this occasion, the pharmacy has a program to screen for chronic kidney disease and measure my blood pressure. I really appreciate it. The children take care of me wholeheartedly, from asking questions to giving enthusiastic advice. I don't know how to express my gratitude. Thanks to Long Chau, I discovered chronic kidney disease early, preventing kidney failure before there were any symptoms," Ms. Thu said, choking up.

In addition to practical projects, Long Chau also carries out activities to raise public awareness. Early detection and timely treatment significantly improve the quality of life, reduce physical pain and mental burden for the patient, their family and society.

Uncle LVKeo, 1962, after measuring blood pressure, blood sugar, urine and receiving careful advice from a doctor, discovered that his blood sugar was a bit high, affecting his health.

"Every elderly person will have some illness. But not everyone can afford to go to the hospital, especially those who are in difficult circumstances or who are elderly. Thanks to free screening sessions like this, we have the opportunity to detect diseases early and know how to take care of ourselves. I hope there will be more programs like this so that the elderly can receive proper attention, live healthier, be more proactive and have less burden for their children and for society," said Uncle Keo.

As a young person who brought his parents for screening, Mr. Linh shared: " I feel that this program of Long Chau is very humane. Many elderly people were touched and appreciated when they received free health screening. Some people were tested for chronic kidney disease, blood sugar, blood pressure, etc. for the first time, some people learned about their illness thanks to this screening. Programs like this not only help the elderly detect diseases early, but also give them the feeling of being listened to and cared for. For many people, this is not just a medical examination - but a very precious and humane act."

Through meaningful community projects and a steadfast spirit with the mission "For a healthy Vietnam", Long Chau helps patients proactively prevent and detect diseases early, not missing the "golden period" of treatment. Thereby, joining hands to reduce pressure on the upper-level healthcare system and spread the spirit of sustainable healthcare to every family.
