On the afternoon of June 5, Mr. Lu Ngoc Tinh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong district, said that the floods in the area had affected many houses, many sections on National Highway 16 were eroded and cut off, many villages were isolated, fortunately there were no human casualties.
According to the report of the People's Committee of Nhon Mai commune, as of 2:00 p.m. on June 5, heavy rains that occurred from 5:00 p.m. on June 4 in Nhon Mai commune caused floods, flash floods, and landslides. As a result, 3 houses had their slopes eroded to the foundations, and many sections of National Highway 16 were eroded and cut off. Fortunately, there were no human casualties.

As soon as the heavy rain occurred, after assessing the situation, the Nhon Mai commune authorities promptly evacuated 24 households/96 people in Xoi Voi and Co Ha villages to safe shelters at the village community house.
According to statistics, on National Highway 16 there are 9 landslides, rocks and soil spilled onto the road and the asphalt road was completely broken (of which 3 completely broken points are in Xoi Voi and Co Ha villages). Currently, traffic is seriously congested, vehicles cannot circulate. Currently, 3 villages: Xoi Voi, Tham Tham, Huoi Co are isolated.

The flood also damaged more than 14 hectares of crops of all kinds; some buffaloes and cows were swept away by floodwaters... Immediately after the flood stopped, the Commune's Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue quickly directed and mobilized the Police and Military forces to coordinate with Nhon Mai Border Guard Station and commune-level departments to promptly approach to evacuate people and transport assets to safe shelters, and at the same time organize inspections and make preliminary statistics of the damage caused by heavy rains promptly.
Previously, heavy rain on May 29 and 30 in this commune also occurred with flash floods, causing severe damage. The total damage was estimated at more than 16.9 billion VND. Of which, the rain caused flash floods that affected 36 houses; swept away the suspension bridge of Nhon Mai village (damage of about 1.5 billion VND); swept away 2 high-voltage power poles; landslides at many points on National Highway 16 and roads leading to the villages...
