Green Journey to Lo Lo Chai – “Fairy Tale Village” in the Stone Plateau
Nestled at the foot of the majestic Dragon Mountain, about 1km from Lung Cu Flagpole, Lo Lo Chai village appears like a peaceful picture in the middle of the rocky plateau. This is the common home of the Lo Lo and Mong ethnic groups for generations. The culture of the Lo Lo people is clearly expressed through traditional motifs such as fish and dragons, because life here is always associated with the worry of water shortage all year round. The desire for "dragons to spray water" is not only a simple wish, but also a sincere heart expressed in every motif and every house in the land of the Fatherland.
Sinh Di Gai Village Chief – The One Who “Paving the Way” for the Path Out of Poverty
Ten years ago, Lo Lo Chai was in trouble due to its complex terrain and limited water resources. But Mr. Sinh Di Gai - the village chief - found a new way: developing tourism . On that journey, he did not go alone but together with the villagers nurtured the dream of a more prosperous Lo Lo Chai, opening a way out of poverty for the whole village. With an open and enthusiastic spirit, he helped the people understand that the cultural identity and nature here are the "priceless assets". Thanks to that, Lo Lo Chai began to welcome the first visitors, gradually becoming a special destination on the Ha Giang tourism map.

Difficulties still remaining in Lo Lo Chai
Although it has become more popular, the journey to do tourism in Lo Lo Chai is still full of thorns. In the border area, international tourists will need to pay a fee of 10 USD (~250,000 VND) to stay overnight. This is something that makes foreign visitors easily misunderstand, thinking that they are being "ripped off", leading to negative reviews affecting tourism. Not only that, all construction materials to build homestays must be transported from the center of Ha Giang city or Dong Van district, causing costs to increase. At the same time, the serious water shortage is a headache for households when many families have to spend money to buy clean water for daily activities and serving guests, leading to higher room rates than the average.
To “compensate” for the high accommodation prices, the people of Lo Lo Chai always strive to serve tourists wholeheartedly: full meals with many specialties, free community activities, and above all, the enthusiasm of the people. Here, no matter how difficult life is, the people always welcome you with a warm smile, sincere hospitality and a deep love for the village.

Efforts to preserve tradition – “overhaul” to return
Thanks to the skillful persuasion of the village chief and dedicated tourism workers, many houses in Lo Lo Chai have been renovated to restore traditional architecture: yellow walls, ancient yin-yang tiled roofs, and surrounding stone fences. Despite many difficulties, the people here are still steadfast in preserving the village soul and cultural beauty. Unable to build walls like in the past because of the lack of materials and the expense, they chose to apply modern materials while still preserving the old spirit, so that each roof still retains the appearance of a pristine Lo Lo Chai with a strong identity.
