Continuous blood filtration is a "lifesaver" to help patients overcome critical conditions.

On the night of May 29, the emergency team of the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department received a patient in a state of hypovolemic shock, severe metabolic acidosis, severe hyperkalemia, renal failure on dialysis, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes. Upon admission, the patient was lethargic, agitated, with pale skin, pale mucous membranes, respiratory rate of 30 breaths/minute, and blood gas test showed severe metabolic acidosis...

Upon receiving the patient, the team immediately performed emergency treatment: intubation, central venous catheter placement, fluid replacement, blood alkalinization, and explained to the patient's family, suggesting continuous blood filtration to provide emergency treatment to save the patient's life.

After 1 hour of urgent and active work by the emergency team members, the patient was given blood filtration, mechanical ventilation via endotracheal tube... hemodynamic indicators were gradually controlled.

Doctor Khuc Mai Anh (Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poison), who participated in the shift that day, shared that the urgent and active emergency treatment saved the patient's life. This also demonstrated the effective coordination of the on-duty team and the maximum application of modern technical methods in emergency and treatment for the patient. In which, continuous blood filtration is considered a "lifesaver" for critically ill patients.

The emergency team actively treated the patient.

Master, Doctor Dinh Trong Hieu (Head of the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poisoning) assessed that if blood filtration is performed early and appropriately, the patient has a very high chance of recovery. At the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poisoning, more than 60% of critically ill patients who were promptly resuscitated and given continuous blood filtration have recovered and returned home.

As in the case of patient NN Duy, who was miraculously saved after an hour of intensive resuscitation with endotracheal ventilation and continuous blood filtration. The very next day, the patient's endotracheal tube could be removed, and his metabolic acidosis and hyperkalemia improved significantly. However, the patient's consciousness was still slow, and he had cerebral edema due to severe metabolic disorders, so the doctors continued to treat cerebral edema, control electrolytes, kidney function, and perform periodic blood filtration...

After nearly 1 month, thanks to the efforts of the emergency team at the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department and his own strong will, Mr. NN Duy overcame his illness and was discharged from the hospital to return home to his family.
