Long An: Voters agree on administrative unit arrangement plan

(Chinhphu.vn) - The People's Committee of Long An province has issued a report summarizing the results of collecting voters' opinions on the arrangement of provincial and commune-level administrative units in 2025 of Long An province.

The majority of voters in Long An province agreed on the plan to arrange administrative units at the provincial and communal levels of the province.

Long An Provincial People's Committee said that the Provincial People's Committee has directed the Department of Home Affairs, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to guide and direct the Commune People's Committees to develop content and plans to propagate and mobilize voters in the area to clearly understand the meaning and content of collecting opinions, their rights, obligations and responsibilities; encourage and motivate voters to actively participate when the Commune People's Committee organizes to collect voters' opinions on the arrangement of administrative units at the provincial and commune levels.

The People's Committee at the commune level has urgently developed a plan to organize the collection of voters' opinions; has compiled a list of voters and posted the list of voters at the headquarters of hamlets and residential areas. The work of posting the list of voters and documents for collecting opinions has been carried out seriously and publicly by the units. After the prescribed posting period, the People's Committee at the commune level guides the hamlets and residential areas to organize the collection of voters' opinions from households on the project to arrange administrative units at the provincial and communal levels. The form of collecting opinions from households in each hamlet and residential area is in one of the following appropriate forms: organizing a meeting of the residential community or distributing ballots to collect opinions from voters representing households, ensuring that all voters and households participate in giving opinions. The vote counting is carried out democratically, transparently and in accordance with regulations.

As a result, regarding the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units, 432,354/441,055 voters representing households agreed, reaching a rate of 98.03%; 5,209 voters disagreed, accounting for a rate of 1.18%.

Voters highly agree on the plan to arrange administrative units at the commune level.

According to the Report of the People's Committee of Long An province, the majority of voters agree with the plan to arrange administrative units at the commune level.

Of which, 100% of voters supported merging the entire My Quy Dong commune, My Thanh Bac commune, and My Quy Tay commune of Duc Hue district into My Quy commune.

99.95% of voters support merging the entire commune of Hoa Khanh Tay, Hoa Khanh Nam, and Hoa Khanh Dong of Duc Hoa district into Hoa Khanh commune.

99.73% of voters supported merging the entire My An commune and My Phu commune of Thu Thua district into My An commune.

99.70% of voters supported merging the entire Tan Thanh commune, Nhon Ninh commune, and Tan Ninh commune of Tan Thanh district into Nhon Ninh commune.

99.63% of voters supported merging all wards 1, 2 and 3 of Kien Tuong town into Kien Tuong ward.

99.59% of voters supported merging the entire Tuyen Thanh commune, Thanh Hung commune of Kien Tuong town and part of Bac Hoa commune of Tan Thanh district into Tuyen Thanh commune.

99.48% of voters supported merging the entire Huong Tho Phu commune, ward 1, ward 3, ward 4, ward 6, ward 5 of Tan An city and part of Binh Thanh commune, Thu Thua district into Long An ward.

99.28% of voters support merging the entire Tuyen Binh commune, Tuyen Binh Tay commune, part of Vinh Binh commune, Vinh Thuan commune (part of Ca Na hamlet), Thai Binh Trung commune (except Trung Vinh hamlet, part of Trung Liem) into Tuyen Binh commune...

According to the Project to merge Tay Ninh and Long An provinces into Tay Ninh province, the new administrative unit will have an area of ​​8,536.5 km2 (170% of the standard), a population of 3,338,419 people (234.9% of the standard), and is expected to have 96 commune-level administrative units (81 communes, 15 wards), and 20 border communes.
