At the meeting, delegates reviewed the glorious tradition of the Militia and Self-Defense Force (MDF). On March 28, 1935, the First Congress of the Indochinese Communist Party issued a "Resolution on the Self-Defense Force" and this is considered the traditional day of the MDF.

Over the past 90 years, under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh , the Militia and Self-Defense Forces and guerrillas have been strategic forces in the people's war, closely associated with the cause of fighting for national independence, building and defending the Fatherland, and meeting new tasks and requirements.

Authorized by the Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee, Colonel Tran Dinh Hung, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Long An Provincial Military Command, awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee to collectives with outstanding achievements in organizing and building the Militia and Self-Defense Force.

Since its inception, the Long An province militia and self-defense force has continuously grown, promoted its heroic tradition, and is ready to fight and protect the homeland in every historical period and shine in the new era.

With the attention of the Party Committee, the Military Region 7 Command, the Provincial Party Committee, and the People's Committee of Long An province, the militia and self-defense force has reached 1.42% of the population. Strengthening the Party development work in the militia and self-defense force, especially in key areas and foreign-invested enterprises. At the same time, establishing new and consolidating, improving the operational efficiency of commune-level military party cells.

Training for the militia and self-defense forces follows the motto "Basic, practical, quality", 100% of the test results meet the requirements, of which 75% or more are good or excellent. Coordinate with the police force, the Border Guard and other forces to organize patrols and guard during peak times and important political events of the country,...

The Militia and Self-Defense Forces are the core force at the grassroots level, and have played a good role in the shock force, together with other forces in preventing, combating, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, searching and rescuing, etc., with more than 30,800 Militia and Self-Defense Forces officers and soldiers participating; contributing funds and supporting working days to build 579 houses for the military and civilians in the province with a total cost of more than 46 billion VND.

With the spirit of "where there are people, there are militia and self-defense forces", the militia and self-defense forces of Long An province today continue to promote their bravery, intelligence and responsibility, contributing to maintaining political stability, protecting the peaceful life of the people, worthy of the glorious tradition of the past 90 years.

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the tradition, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 10 individuals with outstanding achievements; the Provincial Military Command awarded certificates of merit to 33 collectives and 32 individuals with good achievements in organizing and building the Militia and Self-Defense Force.
