Learn from Uncle Ho from the simplest things

Deeply aware of the significance of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style is the condition to continue promoting the good qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers. Over the years, officers and soldiers of Military Region 5 have learned from Uncle Ho from the simplest and most ordinary things: High responsibility, saying goes hand in hand with doing, living diligently and frugally, fighting corruption and waste, loving comrades and teammates..., creating many models such as: "Every week an example of a good person, good deed", "Uncle Ho's study corner", "Every week a story about Uncle Ho", "Every day a word of Uncle Ho's teaching", "Study time following Uncle Ho"... These practical models have become emotional, close and effectiveeducational spaces, methods and content.

Officers and soldiers of Regiment 971 ( Da Nang City Military Command) actively innovate and improve training quality.

On all fronts and in all tasks, especially the difficult and arduous tasks of natural disaster prevention and control, search and rescue, generations of officers and soldiers of the Military Region 5 always remind themselves that "Studying and following Uncle Ho means living honestly, acting for the people, and daring to take responsibility". The outstanding mark in 10 years of implementing Directive 05 in the Military Region's Military Region is the exemplary role of the leader. From the comrades in the Standing Committee of the Military Region's Party Committee to each commanding officer at the grassroots level, all have seriously studied first, done first, and set an example in words and actions. Implementing well the motto "Above first, below later", "Inside first, outside later"; "Above set an exemplary example, below actively follow"; "The higher the position of the officer, the more he must set an example". Thousands of commitments to set an example of learning and following Uncle Ho were built specifically, closely following responsibilities and tasks, not just formalities, but as a basis and guideline to cultivate and train revolutionary ethics for cadres and party members.

The spirit of self-criticism and criticism, “self-reflection, self-correction”, implementing the contents of building “four good party cells”, self-criticism associated with the responsibility of setting an example has become a habit, helping to build increasingly clean and strong party committees and organizations. Many cadres have been promptly disciplined and educated, while some individuals have been severely punished for violating ethics and lifestyle, all for the purpose of preserving the “steel quality” of the revolutionary military contingent.

Over the past 10 years, nearly 2,200 typical collectives and individuals have been honored, not because they have done great things but because they have persevered and diligently done good deeds. There are young female soldiers who are willing to rush into dangerous places, dedicating their youth, contributing a small part to the United Nations peacekeeping mission. There are squad-level officers who are passionate about creativity, understanding and sharing the difficulties and hardships of soldiers during their studies and training, and through practical work, have passionately researched, creating many initiatives, improvements, models, and teaching aids with high applicability, saving hundreds of millions of dong for the unit. There was a comrade who was a local military officer who, during a mission, witnessed the difficult circumstances of five orphaned sisters in a remote border area. Understanding their situation and thinking that he needed to take action, he wrote an article in the newspaper to call for help from philanthropists across the country... Those examples have vividly demonstrated Uncle Ho's teaching: "A living example is worth more than a hundred propaganda speeches", becoming flames that have the power to spread, lighting up the faith of officers and soldiers of the Military Region's armed forces and the people in the area.

Spread from army to people

Learning and following Uncle Ho in the Military Region 5 is inseparable from the political task. From the main units to the local military agencies, from the economic-defense groups to the militia and self-defense forces, all have attached learning from Uncle Ho to each specific task: Good training, high combat readiness; accurate, fast, effective advice; production combined with sovereignty protection; helping people prevent and combat natural disasters, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty... In particular, the image of officers and soldiers of Military Region 5 is increasingly beautiful in the eyes of the people through practical action movements: "Military Region's armed forces join hands to build new rural areas", "Military Region's armed forces join hands for the poor, leaving no one behind", "Accompanying fishermen to stay at sea", "Helping those in difficult circumstances", "Eliminating hunger and reducing poverty", "Building a bright, green, clean and beautiful environmental landscape"... These are vivid realities according to Uncle Ho's teachings: "Whatever is beneficial to the people, we must do our best. Whatever is harmful to the people, we must avoid at all costs".

In order to create a spread from the army to the people, successfully implementing the goal of "Peace the people, grasp the people and keep the people", the Party Committee and the Military Region 5 Command have had many creative and appropriate policies and measures, in which the most prominent are the policies: Participating in "eliminating hungry households, reducing poor households", building "Rice jars for the poor", building pilot models of "Building new rural areas", which have been effectively implemented by agencies and units, contributing to maintaining political stability in the area...".

Leaders of Economic-Defense Group 516 (a typical unit in implementing Directive 05) and leaders of Nui Thanh district presented equipment to fishermen of Tam Quang commune (Nui Thanh, Quang Nam).

It is worth noting that the models and examples initiated by the Military Region have had a profound influence, and have been widely replicated and studied and followed by local Party committees and authorities, not following the model of "when the troops come, the movement rises, when the troops leave, the movement falls". The models have been applied quite effectively, creating a widespread mass movement, mobilizing the entire political system to participate with a high level of socialization. The movement to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style has been and is being effectively implemented by agencies and units under the Military Region 5, spreading "from the army to the people". It is these acts of love and responsibility that have contributed to honoring the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in building a solid "people's hearts and minds"...

It can be said that the Military Region 5's studying and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style not only creates strong changes in awareness but also "energizes" a generation of cadres and soldiers who are rich in ideals, live humanely, act decisively and are devoted to the people - just like the sacred name that the people have given them: Uncle Ho's soldiers. That journey is continuing with the flame of faith lit by the hearts and responsible actions of each cadre and soldier of the Military Region 5.
