Long An builds the image of "Safe and attractive tourism"

To effectively implement Resolution 51-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee on "Building and developing Long An culture and people to 2030 and the following years", Long An is promoting the work of preserving, embellishing and promoting the value of historical-cultural relics as a basis for building the image of "Safe and attractive tourism".

Located at the economic connection between the East and the Southwest, right at the gateway to the Mekong Delta and adjacent to the tourist city of Ho Chi Minh City, Long An has a border of about 134km adjacent to the Kingdom of Cambodia and currently has 126 historical-cultural relics ranked at the provincial and national levels. This is also the only locality in the Mekong Delta region chosen as a member by the Global Cities Tourism Promotion Organization (abbreviated as TPO), headquartered in Busan, Korea.

Besides, Long An also has the Vam Co river landscape, the Dong Thap Muoi wetland ecosystem, a rich and diverse system of tangible and intangible relics, which are also resources to attract domestic and foreign tourists...

This is the premise for the province to develop smokeless tourism; build the image of "Safe and attractive tourism" associated with traditional cultural identity, preserve and promote the value of historical and cultural relics, traditional cultural festivals; experiential tourism, entertainment associated with the characteristics of rivers...

In order to build the image of "Safe and attractive Long An tourism", in recent times, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Long An has promoted the promotion of specific tourism products and Long An tourism identity when recognized by the province; strongly applied science and technology in preserving and managing heritage, digitizing heritage databases for storage and exploitation, serving visitors.

The implementation of the Long An tourism brand identity has helped tourists easily learn about historical-cultural-festival heritages, cuisine, living habits, craft villages... that need to be visited and experienced such as: Lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho Memorial Site; Phuoc Loc Tho ancient house; Hundred-pillar ancient house, Thanh Phu Long ancient house cluster; Vegetarian Festival of Tan Xuan communal house and Long Thuong Lady Temple; Death anniversary of musician Nguyen Quang Dai at Van Phuoc communal house; Co Son Tu; Death anniversary of Duke Nguyen Huynh Duc; "The road to happiness" king's areca row; Binh An drum village; Thuan Thanh jewelry making craft, production of crab sauce, mixed rice paper; Happyland complex tourist area, My Quynh zoo; Chavi Garden educational experience area, Royal golf course, West Lakes golf course...

Along with that, Long An has been calling for the socialization of tourism, creating favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms, policies, administrative procedures, and support services for economic sectors to participate in investing in tourism development.

Expanding the form of attracting domestic and foreign investment, strengthening the promotion, advertising, branding and image of Long An tourism according to the theme: Vam Co river tourism and entertainment paradise. Strengthening cooperation and association in tourism development with localities across the country, the Mekong Delta provinces, Ho Chi Minh City and localities in the southern key economic zone.

As a result, the 2nd Long An Culture-Sports-Tourism Week (2024) attracted more than 500,000 domestic and international tourists, contributing to Long An surpassing the milestone of welcoming more than 2 million visitors for the first time, doubling over the same period, up 54% compared to the plan; of which, 340,000 visitors came to visit and participate in festivals at historical-cultural relic sites.

Museums and historical-cultural relics managed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism alone welcomed about 247 groups with 31,200 visitors. For historical-cultural relics, there were more than 106,912 students.

Co Son Tu, a floating pagoda in Tuyen Binh commune (Vinh Hung district, Long An province) is one of the tourist attractions.

It can be seen that the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritages, especially historical-cultural relics, is contributing to attracting visitors and researchers, while educating local historical-cultural traditions for students in the area in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 51 of the Executive Committee of the Long An Provincial Party Committee on building and developing Long An culture and people by 2030 and the following years.

Besides the positive results, Long An tourism also has many difficulties such as lack of connectivity between sectors, investment in relic conservation has not met actual needs; cultural tourism products are still monotonous, services at historical-cultural relic sites have not met the needs of serving, sightseeing and shopping of tourists such as lack of refreshment stalls, limited souvenirs, not rich and diverse designs; traffic infrastructure is not synchronized with the conservation, restoration and promotion of historical-cultural relic values, not connected with tourist attractions.

To develop tourism associated with preserving, embellishing and promoting the value of historical-cultural relics according to the province's orientation, contributing to socio-economic development, Long An is focusing on promoting unique tourism products and identity; strongly applying science, technology in preserving and managing heritage, digitizing heritage databases for storage and exploitation, serving tourists is one of many solutions to develop "Long An tourism to be safer and more attractive" for domestic and foreign tourists.

Therefore, in the coming time, Long An will focus on strengthening tourism links with provinces and cities in the region and attracting tourists. Coordinate with provinces and cities in the region to study the characteristics of the region and the specific strengths of each locality to build common, interconnected tourism products with unique values, attractiveness and high competitiveness.
