The new Long Phieng commune was established on the basis of merging two communes Long Phieng and Chieng Tuong. After the merger, the commune has an area of 147.8 km², with a population of more than 11,100 people. Immediately after completing the merger, the commune quickly completed its organizational structure in a streamlined and efficient manner. Key leadership positions and specialized departments were arranged appropriately according to regulations, ensuring the smooth operation of the new government system.
One of the bright spots in the process of building the government after the merger is the effective operation of the Long Phieng Commune Public Administration Service Center. With the goal of serving people quickly, conveniently and transparently, the center applies the "Electronic One-Stop Shop" model including 5 standardized steps from receiving, processing to returning results.
Mr. Vi Van Khu, Director of Long Phieng Commune Public Administration Service Center, shared: The commune has proactively coordinated with superior agencies to review administrative procedures, publicly post the settlement process and establish a professional team to support people. At the same time, the Center coordinated with the Youth Union to organize training and guide people to submit documents online on the National Public Service Portal. To date, the Center has received and processed 238 documents, 100% of which have returned results on time and before the deadline. In addition, the coordination with the Commune Post Office to return results by post has contributed to reducing costs and travel time for people in remote areas.
In addition, the commune focuses on leading economic development, improving people's lives and building new rural areas. Mr. Lu Van Chung, Chairman of Long Phieng Commune People's Committee, said: The commune continues to review and supplement planning, promote the development of high-tech agriculture; promote the development of goods, services and trade.
Currently, Long Phieng commune has nearly 2,000 hectares of fruit trees of all kinds, including: longan, plum, mango, grapefruit... in which, many models are promoting high economic efficiency. Livestock is maintained and developed in the direction of goods, with a total herd of cattle and poultry reaching more than 48,000 heads.
Promoting the strengths of each locality and organizing production reasonably helps people increase their income and stabilize their lives. Typical examples include the model of grafting longan with pig farming of Phuong Nam Cooperative; the model of off-season plums and early-ripening plums of Tien Dat and Anh Duong Cooperatives... These models not only increase income, but also contribute to the formation of concentrated commodity production areas, promoting linkages along the value chain.
Yen Thi is one of the leading villages in building new rural areas in the commune, with 315 households and nearly 1,200 people. Mr. Nguyen Duc Manh, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Yen Thi Village, said: After the merger, the Party Cell of the village continues to promote its role as a political nucleus at the grassroots level, leading the implementation of assigned political tasks well. From 2024 to now, with support from the State and contributions from the people, the village has concreted 14.6 km of roads, built 5 new bridges and culverts, with a total cost of nearly 7 billion VND. The works put into use have contributed to improving the quality of people's lives.
Comrade Vi Tuan Bao, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, affirmed: Entering the 2025 - 2030 term, the Commune Party Committee clearly identified key goals and tasks. In particular, focusing on improving the leadership capacity of the Party organization, the operational effectiveness of the government, promoting the role of the Fatherland Front and mass organizations; mobilizing resources to invest in synchronous development of all fields.
Inheriting the results of the previous term, in the coming time, the commune will focus on breakthroughs such as developing high-tech agriculture, promoting crop conversion, applying science and technology, mobilizing resources to build infrastructure, creating jobs, and sustainably reducing poverty... At the same time, promoting the role of political and social organizations in propagating and mobilizing people to develop the economy and build a new life. The goal is that by 2030, the commune will have no more poor households according to the new standards; 100% of villages will have solid cultural houses; 90% of villages will have hardened car roads to the center; 100% of households will have safe access to the national grid...
With the spirit of solidarity, determination and synchronous participation of the entire political system and people, Long Phieng commune is gradually changing, improving people's lives and creating a new look for the border countryside.
