Special note for vehicles traveling on Noi Bai highway

TPO - Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) will organize the construction of a series of packages to repair damaged road surfaces and traffic safety systems on some sections of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway from the end of February, which may lead to congestion on some sections, so drivers need to proactively choose appropriate routes.

VEC has just issued an annual maintenance plan for expressways invested and managed by VEC, including the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway.

Accordingly, from the end of February, some damaged sections of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway will be repaired, including:

Section Km123+00 - Km244+155; section Km93+000 - Km106+206; section Km123+066 - Km136+470; section Km142+000 - Km160+400; section Km171+000 - Km190+450; section Km191+200 - Km217+000; section Km229+100-Km243+100; section Km0+00 - Km123+080; section Km77+645 - Km85+975; repair damaged traffic safety system section Km0+00 - Km123+00 and section Km123+080 - Km244+150.

The construction unit will implement measures to ensure traffic safety when constructing on the highway in operation according to regulations, such as: Organizing traffic appropriately; installing signs and warning devices; dividing lanes and traffic flows in the construction area...

To minimize the risk of accidents, traffic congestion and protect the environment during construction, VEC recommends that vehicle owners traveling on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway proactively choose appropriate routes based on the above-mentioned planned repair sections.

Comply with the road signal system, instructions of the construction unit, the operating unit and the authorities on the route. Gradually reduce the speed when passing through the construction area. Contact the operator at 1900 545 592 (24/7) to receive information and promptly handle any problems or unusual events.

In addition, VEC noted that the construction process to repair damaged road surfaces and traffic safety systems could lead to congestion, affecting the quality of operation of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway.

The Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway has a total length of 245km, passing through 5 provinces and cities: Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai. The route has a scale of 4 lanes in the Noi Bai - Yen Bai section; 2 lanes in the Yen Bai - Lao Cai section.

According to reports, after more than 10 years of operation, the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway has been under great pressure from the increasing traffic volume, especially heavy trucks, causing many sections of the route to be damaged and degraded. Although VEC has carried out many repairs and improvements to the road surface and traffic safety system, there are still rough and degraded sections that have not been thoroughly handled.
