On May 18, while packing her luggage for her flight back home at midnight on May 19, Japanese tourist Momoko Yoshida was shocked to find her passport gone.

The absent-minded guest tried to remember where he had been and where he might have left his passport, but could not remember.

In a state of fear and panic, Ms. Yoshida rushed down to the reception desk to call for help. This is the hotel in Hang Bac ward (Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi ) where she and her family members stayed from May 16 to May 19.

"They were flying back home the next night, but they only found out their passports were lost the day before, so they were very worried. The guest was sure he wouldn't be able to catch the flight, so he burst into tears," the hotel's night receptionist recalled.

Seeing the guest in a state of panic, the hotel staff quickly calmed her down and immediately came up with a plan to assist in the search. After calming down, Ms. Yoshida planned to ask the hotel to help her go to the Japanese Embassy to ask about the necessary procedures to apply for a new passport.

On the morning of May 19, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, the hotel's receptionist, called the Embassy to explain the specific incident. Meanwhile, other employees also posted information on search groups in the hope that someone who found the lost passport would return it.

Because the Japanese guests had gone to Ninh Binh for a tour the previous days, Ms. Yoshida also informed the tour guide beforehand, asking for help in searching. However, the tour guide reported that there was no information about the lost passport.

On the afternoon of May 19, with less than 10 hours left until her flight, Ms. Yoshida decided that there was no more hope. She accepted the situation of having to stay in Hanoi for a while to wait for a new passport. At this time, a miracle suddenly appeared.

After returning to the hotel from the Embassy, she received a strange phone call from a Vietnamese number. On the other end of the phone, an unidentified person said that they had picked up the passport at a restaurant in Ninh Binh . This was the restaurant that the guest's family had visited before.

"After discussion, I asked the person who picked up the items to send the passport by car to Hanoi before 8pm so that the customer could catch the night flight. Finally, luckily, around 6pm the same day, the Japanese customer was able to receive the items. She burst into tears because of emotion, making us tear up too. After that, they were able to catch the flight as originally planned," Ms. Hanh shared.

After returning to Japan, Ms. Yoshida left a 10/10 review on a booking platform, thanking the entire hotel staff.

In an article published at the end of May, Mr. Kenta, Ms. Yoshida's younger brother, was touched by the warm and enthusiastic welcome of this accommodation facility.

"What impressed me most was the sincerity of the entire staff. When a member of my family lost his passport, they supported us very thoughtfully. When the item was found, everyone celebrated together.

Some staff even burst into tears. Because our flight was at night, the hotel kept our luggage and let us use the bathroom," the Japanese guest said.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, hotel representative said this is not the first time the accommodation facility has promptly supported customers in emergency situations.

"Supporting guests in necessary situations is what hotel staff always aim for with the desire to make guests feel secure during their stay. All share the same goal of building the image of a friendly and hospitable Vietnam in the eyes of international tourists," the hotel representative shared.
