Mau Long joins hands with people to implement national target programs

Typically, in Mau Long commune (Yen Minh), local people have voluntarily contributed labor and donated land to create a site for the construction of many essential infrastructure projects.

As a locality in Region 3, Mau Long commune identifies the National Target Program as playing an important role in promoting socio-economic development, reducing poverty, improving people's lives, and narrowing the development gap between regions. In the period of 2021 - 2025, the capital plan to implement the program in the commune is over 55.5 billion VND, disbursement reaching 100% of the plan. To promote people's strength, the commune focuses on disseminating the meaning of implementation, mobilizing people to participate and having timely reward policies, encouraging companionship, and resolving difficulties in the implementation process.

Secretary of the Party Committee of Mau Long commune, Giang Mi Sung, said: “Implementing the National Target Program, the commune has notably implemented 10 infrastructure investment projects since the beginning of the term, maintained and repaired 6 works in the villages, built and repaired over 300 houses and many other important works and items. From the mass mobilization work, all classes of people have united; not only contributing their efforts and efforts, many households have pioneered in donating land, creating a socialization movement in the area. The commune's implementation experience is to step up propaganda, when people clearly see the practical benefits from the works, they will be ready to participate, thereby creating a positive spread. At the same time, strengthen grassroots democracy, ensure that all decisions have the participation and supervision of the people, avoid formalities and imposition".

A typical example of the spirit of responsibility and joining hands to implement the National Target Program is party member Thao Mi Si, born in 1988, in Hat Dat village. In 2024, the commune will invest in building a new central market with a budget of over 4 billion VND. Although he is a poor household with a family of 5 members, including a child with a severe congenital disability, Si proactively donated 1 hectare of his family's agricultural land to build the market. Si shared: "Realizing that the old market area of the commune is very narrow and close to the primary school, each time the market is held, it affects the children's studies. I know that this is a key project to promote trade for 18 villages of the commune and neighboring areas, so when I learned about the policy and was persuaded by the commune, I immediately agreed. For farmers, land is the most valuable asset, but more than that, I want to promote the responsibility of a party member, contributing to changing the face of my hometown."

The Co Lao ethnic community cultural house in Hat Dat village was built thanks to people donating land and contributing working days.

Mr. Thao Mi Si's work has helped Mau Long commune have a site to start the central market on schedule and create a ripple effect in the community. After Mr. Si, many households in the village also agreed to contribute their efforts to open the road and build the embankment to the market. Up to now, the project has completed all items and is ready for operation, and will become a bustling trading point in the future. In addition to the market project, many items under the National Target Program continue to be effectively implemented by the commune thanks to the people's land donation. These include 2,000m2 of land to build the Co Lao ethnic community cultural house; opening 750m2 of road to the Co Lao ethnic group in Hat Dat village; opening 3km of road from Na De village to Hat Dat, Na Luong group to Na Pang; expanding 1 school and the campus of the primary and secondary schools... All of the above projects were donated by the people of the villages. With this support, State resources only need to focus on materials and technical items instead of land compensation costs. Thereby, increasing the efficiency of investment capital use, especially in localities with limited resources.

Since the beginning of the term, Mau Long commune has concreted 15.4 km of roads in 7 villages; upgraded and expanded 23.6 km of roadbeds; opened over 20 km of new dirt roads... With the spirit of "people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect", people have contributed thousands of working days to open roads, helping to reduce site clearance costs and speed up construction progress. From the consensus that has contributed to the formation of essential infrastructure works, the National Target Program is creating significant changes in Mau Long commune. The examples of donating land and contributing to the construction of schools, markets, roads... are proof that when people proactively participate in discussing, deciding and supervising activities at the grassroots level, they will become a great resource to promote development in Mau Long in particular and other localities in general.
