The audience and colleagues of MC Dai Nghia were shocked to hear that his mother - Mrs. Nguyen Thi Que Phuong, Buddhist name Thanh Giac - passed away on the morning of May 5 in Ho Chi Minh City, at the age of 70.

Ms. Que Phuong settled in the US and had just returned to Vietnam to visit her son for a few days. Unfortunately, on May 3, she suddenly suffered a stroke and was taken to Thong Nhat Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite the dedicated care of the doctors and nurses, due to her advanced age, she did not survive.

What touched many people was that even though he knew his mother was in a deep coma at the hospital, MC Dai Nghia still had to go on stage to play the play Le Chi Vien at the Idecaf stage on the evening of May 4.

Actress Hong Anh shared her emotions about her colleague's dedication to her work. "That night, you still stepped onto the stage with two heavy, contrasting roles. You still danced, laughed, cried... and received a lot of thunderous applause from the audience. But few people knew - at that time your mother was in a deep coma in the emergency room of Thong Nhat Hospital," she wrote.

Hong Anh shared more: "Anyone who knows you will notice something unusual: after each performance, you go backstage and just sit quietly - very different from your usual cheerful and happy appearance. That day, you smiled and talked less - many colleagues just thought you were tired."

Early in the morning of May 5 - exactly on the 8th day of the 4th lunar month, Buddha's birthday - Dai Nghia's mother breathed her last. Immediately afterwards, the male MC posted a funeral notice on his personal page with a brief status: "My mother passed away peacefully on the first day of Buddha's birthday". As a Buddhist, he found comfort in believing that his mother had passed away peacefully, in the light of compassion.

Mrs. Phuong's body is currently lying in state at Phap Vien Minh Dang Quang Pagoda, Thu Duc City. The family will take the coffin of Dai Nghia's mother to be cremated and buried on May 8.
