- Audiences often see you with an innocent, happy, optimistic and humorous image on television. Is this similar to Son Lam's personality in real life?
That is also my personality in real life. I am lucky to have the opportunity to "carry" my whole personality on VTV, especially the program Chuyen Dong 24h . I think this also contributes to creating my own unique image on television. Basically, I think when I am myself, not wearing too big shirts in both life and work, that will be when I am most confident!
MC Son Lam's style.
- Nowadays, besides knowledge and presentation style, appearance is also an important factor for MCs. In your opinion, what makes a TV host's style?
The style of a host can only be achieved when he or she is in control of what he or she says. When he or she truly understands and is in control, even when reading the script, the audience will be able to perceive the information more easily. There are many criteria set for a host, the audience can find them right away with a google search, but I think they are all basic criteria. The hardest thing is to constantly improve, learn and see if you can do new things.
I’ve been lucky enough to build up habits of self-renewal in stages. For example, before going to bed I always watch comedy sketches and it just sinks in naturally.
When I worked at Chuyen Dong 24h , I really liked the Weekly Review section, so I replaced the comedy skits with weekly review products from my colleagues and wondered how they did it.
Recently, I have maintained the habit of reading books, books with interesting perspectives are better, and watching live entertainment shows, the hosts of those shows also bring me many lessons and experiences. And I always wonder, if I were them, would I be able to do it?
In short, our profession is also eliminated very quickly. If we do not renew ourselves, no matter how much we love our profession, we will soon have to give up our “glory” to the younger generation. I am just trying to slow down that process.
- Who is your idol in the profession?
I idolize many people. Every job I have ever done at VTV has always given me the opportunity to meet with experienced seniors. Ten years ago, when I was still at VTV6, Ms. Ta Bich Loan showed me what a journalist-style talk show was like, it was completely different from the question and answer style of the MC profession that I used to know.
Then when I came to work as a Morning Coffee host with VTV3 , even though I had to wake up at 4am every time I had a schedule to host, I still clearly remember the feeling of receiving messages from Mr. Lai Van Sam and Ms. Tung Chi in the group commenting on the show that had just aired.
Recently, I have 2 idols: Mr. Quoc Khanh and Mr. Viet Hoang because they are 2 hosts associated with 2 programs that I really like at the moment:Sports Golden Hour and Weekly Highlights of 24h Movement.

Incident not to be repeated
- An unfortunate incident Son Lam once encountered and how did he overcome it?
I remember the keyword “human brain - animal brain” the most. Until now, if you search on Google, you can also read the articles about me at that time. That was a time when the COVID-19 epidemic was quite stressful. I used the example of Paul MacLean’s Triune Theory, a theory that was born to explain why people do the things they usually do in different ways.
I used this theory to explain some community activities at that time. But I made two mistakes. First, I did not study carefully and did not update that: "Although this theory has its own truth, in modern science , people rarely use it".
Second, the way I wrote my Weekly Score at that time had some words and ideas that could cause the audience to misunderstand that I was crudely comparing "human brain to animal brain". Unfortunately for me, at that time, everyone was at home watching TV and surfing social networks, so more people paid attention.
Many incomplete cuts of my entire presentation were circulated, so more people took it in a negative way. Those were really difficult days for me, fortunately I had colleagues to support and guide me.
Those were also the days when I truly felt how much impact a word I said on VTV could have on the community. After that lesson, I learned to measure the audience's reaction better. Since then, there have been a few times when what I said on TV was shared by many people, fortunately nothing negative.

- MC Son Lam is quite comfortable sharing everyday moments, especially photos of his "good housewife": washing dishes, cleaning the house for his wife. Is this voluntary or is there a bit of discipline?
My family is quite clear about who is the head of the house (laughs). So it is right to say that it is thorough. Luckily, my head of the house is quite fair. The head of the house cooks rice, I wash the dishes, that’s standard. At night, I will bathe the child, the head of the house will put the child to bed. In the morning, I will take the child to school, and in the afternoon, the head of the house will pick up the child… I feel quite comfortable with this division of labor.
The only thing I don't really agree with is who holds the money. But oh well, what can I do, nothing is perfect! As for sharing everyday moments, I'm happy because it helps me and the audience get closer.
- Share a few things about your wife, is she the same or opposite humor version of you?
Sometimes the same sign, sometimes the opposite sign! Just kidding, but I think that after nearly 10 years of love and marriage, I believe that my wife is my missing half. My wife makes up for what I lack. For example, I am a flighty person, I love to play, but she is quite disciplined. I am quite careless, I don't care much about relationships, but my wife is a good planner. In short, I can simply create laughter happily, but my wife will be the one to plan to have that laughter regularly.

- With a busy job and often having to travel far, what do you think is the spark to keep a marriage sweet and happy?
Happiness is hard to say, we also have many times of arguing and disagreeing, but most of all, we can talk to each other and share common goals in life, from economics to some basic life views. We are always ready to acknowledge each other's strengths and talents and also clearly see each other's shortcomings. I think only looking straight at it makes everything a bit easier.
