What does the 2024 Mitsubishi Xforce have to "compete" with the KIA Seltos?

Entering the B-size urban SUV segment with many competing products, Mitsubishi Xforce 2024 in Vietnam faces many challenges as a "latecomer". However, Vietnamese users still pay a lot of attention to this new product, especially customers who have sympathy for the "solid" Mitsubishi brand of Japan.

Mitsubishi Xforce announced the selling price of 3 versions in Vietnam, starting from 620 million VND and up to 699 million VND. The Ultimate variant has no price yet and will not start delivering cars until June 2024.

Meanwhile, Kia Seltos has a price range of about 599 million VND to 719 million VND depending on the version. Kia Seltos and Mitsubishi Xforce are formidable rivals in the B-class SUV segment. So what does Mitsubishi Xforce have to compete with Kia Seltos?

Exterior design

Belonging to segment B, but Mitsubishi Xforce is not much different from C-class cars. Overall dimensions 4,390 x 1,810 x 1,660 (mm), wheelbase 2,650mm, ground clearance 222mm best in segment, even larger than some C-class cars.

Meanwhile, Seltos has dimensions of length, width, and height of 4,315 x 1,800 x 1,645 (mm), a wheelbase of 2,630 mm, and ground clearance of 190 mm.

The 2024 Mitsubishi Xforce has a strong and masculine design with a large grille and a sporty front bumper. The integrated LED headlights and fog lights are bright and create a modern highlight for the front. At the bottom of the car, the angular lines create a sporty and individual beauty.

On the other hand, the Kia Seltos has a more youthful and dynamic design. This model has a large grille and an eye-catching front with modern LED lights and fog lights.

Interior design

The Xforce interior has a simple design, the interior space is relatively spacious and comfortable. Meanwhile, the KIA Seltos has an impressive interior design and emphasizes practicality, but is not as spacious as the Xforce.

The cockpit layout of the Mitsubishi XForce is similar to the design of the Xpander Cross model with a sporty 3-spoke steering wheel but is somewhat more modern thanks to the appearance of a 12.3-inch touch screen entertainment screen and an 8-inch digital dashboard.

The Seltos has a 10.25-inch infotainment screen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and a dashboard with a 7-inch multi-information display, a 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated function buttons, front seats with cooling function, electric driver's seat, and automatic air conditioning.

The highest-end version of Mitsubishi Xforce is also equipped with some features usually only found in higher segments such as Yamaha high-end sound system, 2-zone independent air conditioning with air filter, cold storage compartment, electric trunk opening and closing with kick trunk feature, etc.

However, there are still some points that make users unsatisfied, that is, Xforce does not have a sunroof like most high-end versions of KIA Seltos models, or seat adjustment will have to be done completely mechanically even on the highest-end version, while competitors have long been equipped with electric seats.

Xforce and Seltos Engine

The new Mitsubishi Xforce is equipped with a 1.5-liter MIVEC gasoline engine with a CVT automatic transmission. This engine produces a maximum capacity of 105 horsepower and a maximum torque of 114Nm.

Compared to Mitsubishi Xforce, the new generation Kia Seltos has an advantage with 2 engine options. The Kappa 1.4 T-GDi (Turbo) turbocharged engine produces a maximum capacity of 138 horsepower, maximum torque of 242Nm, with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Meanwhile, the Kappa 1.6 MPI naturally aspirated engine produces a maximum capacity of 128 horsepower, maximum torque of 157Nm, with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

About safety equipment

In terms of safety equipment, the XForce does not differ much from its competitors. The ADAS safety technology package with main features such as collision warning system, emergency braking assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning system and cross traffic warning when reversing is only equipped in the highest-end Ultimate version.

Similarly, the Kia Seltos also comes with a host of advanced safety features including driver assistance systems and collision warning. Higher-end versions also get tire pressure sensors and many other safety features.

Since its launch, Seltos has created a sales storm for Kia, quickly becoming the best-selling B-class urban SUV on the market. The advantages of Seltos lie in its equipment, spacious space, and reasonable price for many customers who tend to switch to high-chassis vehicles.

Therefore, in addition to direct pressure from Kia Seltos and other competitors in the same segment, Mitsubishi Xforce needs time to find its own place, but with a youthful, modern design and a series of attractive equipment, it is only a matter of time before Xforce accelerates sales.
