According to Dr. Cao Viet Tung, the child was run over by a homemade tricycle, causing closed abdominal trauma.
Upon receiving the patient, the on-duty team examined, performed tests and took a CT scan to assess the patient's condition. The patient was scheduled for emergency surgery with a diagnosis of left diaphragmatic rupture causing herniation of the stomach and intestines into the chest, grade 3 kidney injury, small intestine contusion and retroperitoneal hematoma.
"The emergency surgery was performed quickly at night. The surgeon stitched and reconstructed the diaphragm, preserved the baby's kidney, removed the bruised intestine, and reconnected the intestines end to end," said Dr. Tung.
After surgery, the baby was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for continued resuscitation and close monitoring of vital functions.
According to the hospital's leadership, the patient's condition is currently unstable and needs to be closely monitored and further tests performed to assess whether the patient has any bleeding or other injuries.
