Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (Tan Phu District) has just announced a list of tuition reductions for students with siblings or twins studying at the school.

According to statistics, in the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade has 46 pairs of twins receiving a 50% tuition reduction and 121 pairs of siblings receiving a 30% tuition reduction.

My Kim and My Cuong (from Tien Giang ) are twin sisters studying restaurant and food service management. My Cuong confided that during the university entrance exam period, her family faced many financial difficulties.

Twin sisters My Kim and My Cuong are happy to receive a 50% reduction in tuition fees.

The older sister My Kim wants to study education, the younger sister My Cuong wants to study communications. However, studying, eating, and living in Ho Chi Minh City are expensive, so the two sisters decided to study at the same university.

"We chose to study a major that overlaps our interests, and at the same time, we can easily find a job after graduation. Although it is not my favorite major, up to now, I still feel that I chose the right school to study" - My Cuong confided.

My Kim’s older sister said that the two sisters felt very happy when the school supported a 50% reduction in tuition fees. Thanks to that, the tuition fee for both of them was only calculated as for one person. The two sisters were also less worried and focused more on studying.

Sharing the reason for implementing the policy of supporting tuition reduction for students, MSc. Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center - Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that having 2 children studying at the same time causes many families to face difficulties. In many cases, families have to choose 1 of the 2 to continue sending their children to university.

"On average, 2 students have to pay tuition fees of 32-35 million/semester. This is the cost not including food and daily living expenses. If we calculate roughly, 2 students have to spend about 20 million VND/month" - MSc. Son analyzed.

Understanding these circumstances, since 2017 the school has had a policy of reducing tuition fees for students with siblings studying at the school. According to Master Son, this policy not only helps to encourage students' learning spirit but also reduces the economic burden on the family, helping them focus more on their studies.
