Mirror said Napoli's board of directors were impressed and wanted to activate the 44 million euro buyout clause for Hojlund soon. MU also did not oppose this idea. The "Red Devils" wanted to complete the deal soon to avoid repeating the "mistake" of Jadon Sancho - a player who caused the club great losses due to a series of complicated loan contracts and high wages.
After moving to Napoli on loan on the last day of the summer transfer window, Hojlund quickly integrated and shone under the guidance of coach Antonio Conte. The 22-year-old striker scored 4 goals in 6 matches in all competitions, becoming one of the pillars of the team.
Hojlund also formed a good partnership with Kevin De Bruyne and Scott McTominay – who played a big part in last season’s Serie A title win. However, a recent thigh injury has kept Hojlund out of action for several weeks.
Despite only being away from Old Trafford for a few months, Hojlund is said to be very happy in Napoli and is not interested in returning to England. With MU determined to sell outright, the deal will likely be completed in January 2026, ending the Danish striker's unforgettable time at Old Trafford.
