According to Real Madrid's official announcement on the evening of October 27, Carvajal was diagnosed with a problem in his right knee joint after feeling pain after the win over Barcelona last weekend. In that match, the 33-year-old defender was brought onto the field in the second half.

Real Madrid announced: "Following tests carried out by the Real Madrid medical team, Dani Carvajal has been diagnosed with a loose joint in his right knee. The player will undergo arthroscopic surgery."
Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery that only requires small incisions to insert a camera and instruments to examine or treat damage in the joint.
According to initial assessment, Carvajal may have to rest for about 3 months, which means he will have to rest until the end of this year.
The win over Barcelona was also Carvajal’s first game since September, after he suffered a calf injury in the 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid. However, the Real Madrid captain’s misfortune continued when he suffered a problem in his right knee, where he ruptured two ligaments and tendons in October 2024. That injury ruled him out for the rest of the 2024/25 season.

In the recent El Clasico, midfielder Fede Valverde was temporarily arranged by coach Xabi Alonso to play at right-back, while Trent Alexander-Arnold, a new player who had just recovered from injury, was considered a long-term replacement when Carvajal had to take a long break.
With captain Carvajal out for a long time, Real Madrid will face a personnel problem in defense at the end of the year, when the schedule is dense in both La Liga and Champions League.
After the El Clasico, Carvajal "collided" with Yamal when he continuously provoked his junior: "You talk too much. Now continue talking." After that, Yamal tried to rush at the veteran Real Madrid defender but was stopped by Edouardo Camavinga.
