In Barcelona's 1-2 defeat to Real Madrid, controversy erupted after players lost control of their tempers. The focus of this altercation was on young star Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) and right-back Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid).
Specifically, after the match ended, Yamal and Carvajal shook hands. Television stations, observing their lip movements, noted that Carvajal initiated the exchange with a remark that caused the young Barcelona number 10 to lose his composure.
Before the match, Yamal made statements that were considered "overconfident," which displeased Real Madrid players, including Carvajal.
Although the two were teammates on the Spanish national team, the Real Madrid defender's actions crossed the line. Carvajal's words, which broadcasters analyzed from his lip movements, were: "You talk too much, kid," immediately after shaking hands. After Carvajal turned away, Yamal immediately retorted fiercely but was restrained by Real Madrid midfielder Camavinga.
However, the incident didn't end there. Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also rushed over, restraining Yamal with provocative words. This intervention further angered the Barcelona prodigy, who was even reportedly challenged to a meeting in the parking lot.
Things then descended into chaos, forcing players and coaching staff from both teams to intervene to prevent an unfortunate brawl from breaking out.
Although the tension on the pitch was later brought under control, the frustration of the Barcelona players spilled over into social media.
On the evening of October 27th, fans quickly discovered that Lamine Yamal had unfollowed Carvajal's account on Instagram.
Then, on the morning of October 28th, Yamal's teammates at Barcelona, such as midfielders Pedri and Gerard Martin, also took similar actions, clearly expressing their dissatisfaction with the Real Madrid defender's behavior.
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong has spoken out to express his displeasure with the way Real Madrid players treat their younger teammates.
“I didn’t see anything happen. I was sitting on the bench and just saw a lot of people rushing towards each other. When the referee blew the final whistle, the Real Madrid players immediately ran to Lamine Yamal. It was a bit excessive. We should probably ask them about this,” De Jong said on Movistar.
He also emphasized: “Carvajal can talk to him privately. Making gestures on the pitch is just outdated behavior. If you are Lamine's teammate and want him to moderate his statements, then you should talk to him privately,” De Jong shared.
Currently, the Real Madrid defender wearing the number 2 shirt has not made any comment on the incident.
