World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz returned after more than a month away from the tournament since his Tokyo triumph, but his form at the 2025 Paris Masters was disappointing.
In his eighth match against Cameron Norrie, Alcaraz played erratically and made 19 unforced errors in the second set, losing 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 after more than two hours of play.

Despite winning the first set, the Spanish player still struggled to find the feel of the ball, even having a rather tense exchange with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero.
This defeat not only ended his 17-match winning streak at Masters 1000 tournaments, but also put Carlos Alcaraz at risk of losing his world number 1 position if Jannik Sinner wins in Paris.
However, in the race for "Number 1 Tennis Player in 2025", Alcaraz is still temporarily leading with a gap of 2,040 points.

For his part, Norrie played confidently and with courage. He took full advantage of his opponents' mistakes, controlled the long ball well and kept his composure at the decisive moment.
This victory helped the 30-year-old British player enter the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 for the first time since the Rome Open 2023 - an important milestone marking the return of the 2021 Indian Wells champion.
