According to the report of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of EVNCPC, by 12 o'clock on October 29, the whole Corporation had 492 incidents and layoffs due to flooding, of which 125 cases had been restored. Currently, 444,335 customers have had their electricity interrupted, accounting for 8.99% of the total number of customers of EVNCPC and 18.82% of customers of 4 Power Companies including Da Nang , Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai and Quang Tri.
Da Nang Electricity Company is the unit that is most heavily affected, with 230,899 customers (26.34% of total customers) and 2,045 transformer stations (19.9%) having their power supply cut off.
Hue Electricity Company still has 180,001 customers (52.4% of total customers) and 1,283 transformer stations (42.23%) out of operation.
Quang Ngai Power Company has 30,055 customers (4.86% of total customers) and 414 transformer stations (6.47%) affected. Meanwhile, Quang Tri Power Company has only 240 customers and 7 transformer stations in Trieu Phong commune have not had electricity restored.
In many deeply flooded areas with high risk of insecurity, the Electricity Unit proactively stopped supplying electricity to ensure safety for people and electrical equipment.
Speaking at the meeting, EVNCPC General Director Ngo Tan Cu assessed that the situation of heavy rain and flooding in recent days has been very complicated, with floods rising quickly, and in some places the water has just receded and then risen again, causing many difficulties in restoring power supply. "EVNCPC determines that the task of restoring power after floods is urgent, but safety must be put first," Mr. Cu emphasized.
EVNCPC General Director requested units to maintain 24/7 on-duty, mobilize maximum human resources, vehicles and materials, proactively handle incidents, and restore power as soon as water recedes and safety conditions are ensured.
“As soon as the water recedes, the electrical system must be checked to ensure it is safe and power restored to customers immediately. Within 3 to 5 days, the units must complete the restoration of the entire power grid after the flood,” the EVNCPC General Director directed.
Mr. Ngo Tan Cu assigned the units to strengthen the propaganda of electrical safety among the people, coordinate with local authorities, police and army in accessing deeply flooded areas, supporting people and ensuring the safety corridor of the power grid and safety for officers and workers performing tasks at the scene.
EVNCPC's professional departments were requested to urgently distribute spare materials such as transformers, meters, wires, switching equipment... to heavily damaged units, especially Hue and Da Nang, to proactively restore the system as soon as the water recedes.
The EVNCPC General Director also requested the power companies and the Central Power Service Company to arrange 50 officers and workers for each unit, along with 2 electrical testing teams of the Central Power Testing Company Limited, to be ready to support and assist localities with heavy damage in repairing the power grid and restoring power supply to customers after the flood.
Concluding the meeting, General Director Ngo Tan Cu affirmed that EVNCPC mobilized maximum forces, means and materials to restore power as quickly as possible, ensuring safety for people and essential infrastructure. The entire system must work urgently and responsibly to soon restore power supply to stabilize the lives and production of people in the Central region.
