Cold air has spread across most of the North and continues to penetrate deep into the South, causing widespread cold rain, after weakening on December 10. It is forecasted that on December 12, a strong cold air mass will strengthen again.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this afternoon (December 7), cold air affected some places in the Northwest and North Central regions.
It is forecasted that tonight and tonight, cold air will continue to affect other places in the Northwest, North Central and Central Central regions, then affect some places in the South Central region. Northeast wind inland is strong at level 3, coastal areas at level 4-5.

Specifically assessing the weather in regions across the country in the next week (December 7-13), the meteorological agency said that in the North on December 7, there will be scattered rain; on December 8, there will be rain in some places; from December 9-10, there will be sunny afternoons; from December 11-13, there will be scattered light rain. Of which, from December 8-9 and December 13, the North will be cold; from December 10-12, it will be cold at night and in the morning.
In Hanoi , there will be rain on December 7; on December 8, there will be rain in some places; from December 9-10, it will be sunny in the afternoon; from December 11-13, there will be scattered light rain. From December 7-9 and December 13, the area will be cold; from December 10-12, it will be cold at night and in the morning.
In the Central region, from December 7-8, there will be scattered showers and rain; from the night of December 9-10, there will be rain in some places. From December 11-13, the area from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa will have rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain to very heavy rain and thunderstorms; the Thanh Hoa - Nghe An and Ninh Thuan - Binh Thuan areas will have scattered showers and rain.
These days, due to the influence of cold air, in addition to rain, the North Central region from tonight to December 9 will be cold; from December 10-12, it will be cold at night and in the morning; and December 13 will be cold.
Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and the South will experience unseasonal rain during this period. Specifically, from December 7-10, it will be sunny during the day, with scattered showers in the afternoon and evening. From December 11-13, the Central Highlands will have rain, moderate rain, and locally heavy rain; the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with intermittent sunshine during the day.
Experts predict that this December, cold air tends to increase in frequency and intensity. Severe cold is likely to appear in the second half of the month.
The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure. Localized heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.
Strong winds and large waves at sea are likely to affect boating and other activities.
