US-India to enrich strategic aspect with 2+2 dialogue next month

The US and India are preparing to hold a 2+2 dialogue between the two countries' Foreign Ministers and Defense Ministers in New Delhi on November 9-10.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will visit India in November this year, discussing with Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh issues such as regional security and strategic relations between New Delhi and Washington.

According to India Today TV , at the 2+2 dialogue, the Ministers will have a comprehensive discussion on the strategic relationship between India and the US and look at ways to strengthen these ties.

The two sides are also likely to discuss regional security issues, including the ongoing military standoff on India's northern border with China.

The 2+2n dialogue could also touch on the Hamas-Israel conflict in the Gaza Strip, with a focus on preventing an escalation. The consequences of the Russia-Ukraine conflict for global security could be part of the discussion.

In addition, the two sides will discuss military hardware purchases, with India purchasing Predator drones and related systems worth more than $3 billion. India has been one of the largest arms buyers of the US in the past few decades and the two sides expect deeper cooperation in this area in the future.

According to ANI , the US and India have maintained the annual 2+2 dialogue mechanism since 2018 to further strengthen the strategic partnership and this is the 5th meeting in this format.

India and the US are both members of the Quad, which aims to ensure security in the Indo -Pacific region.
